PLEASE, can we bring this term back into fashion for 06?
Robber baron

Robber baron was a term revived in the 19th century in the United States as a pejorative reference to businessmen who dominated their relevant industries and amassed huge personal fortunes, typically as a direct result of pursuing various anti-competitive or unfair business practices. The term may now be used in relation to any businessman who is perceived to have used questionable business practices in order to become powerful or wealthy.

The NEW Republican party: A battle between the Rapturist Right and the Robber Barons.

A bumper sticker I want to see: "Honey, you aren't wealthy enough to vote Republican."

4. But it needs to hit the mark without sounding hateful
Although fascist is increasingly accurate, it is a term that causes people to recoil.

I've always been uncomfortable chiding rightwing candidates about money because that reason doesn't have to be twisted around too far (you KNOW they're gonna do it!) before it slaps at some DemGems. I know it takes money to run for high office in America, but Kerry, Kennedy, Clintons etc. have plenty.

If we use the term 'robber baron', I think we need to stress the unfair business practices--the poor ethics--of the Republicans and not focus so much on the money aspect. The average voter already thinks BOTH sides have too much money and influence.

6. It's the obvious pandering to BIG business at the expense of the other 90%
THAT is a specialty of these Republicans...they don't even look at the upper-middle class needs, anymore, just the VERY, VERY rich!

7. I have said it time and again...we are living in the Neo Gilded Age
where the Robber Barons live large and the rest of us are just a layoff or an illness away from destitution...
