1. My question is will the people in this country stand up or are we
going to keep waiting for someone else to do it for us?

together to fill the streets like in Bolivia or Russia after the coup against Gorbachev?

2. I'll add a choice.
It's "no, people who sit around on message boards and complain about what they want other people to do will never be satisfied and thus will never say that the Democrats are fighting for them."

6. some are, but not leaders and not critical mass
when you have shitbags like Lieberman and Biden going along with much of what the GOP does, that doesn't help.

If they are paying your salary, tell them to shit or get off the pot.

5. Will DU ever notice Democrats standing up.
No. Except for the "they grew a spine" threads that we get every 2 weeks, for about 5 minutes until DU goes back to whining and bitching again.

The Dems were out in front on the port issue. Why isn't the media reporting the bills they've already introduced?? Hmmm.

9. M E D I A
you said it yourself.. The public face of democrats is created iin the "media make-up chair". They are shown as what the media wants them to be seen as..

Watch the Dreyfuss Press Club event on cspan.. He summed it up brilliantly

27. Don't tell me
I've been harping about the media for years. Tell the ones who pop up once a week on the quest for the balls and spine, regardless of what's going on in the real world.

15. one thing they need to learn from GOP is you don't "pick your
battles;" you fight every time and try to be on the right side of the issue every time.

Does that mean filibustering and throwing a monkeywrench in the gears every time? No. What it does mean is voting on the right side and calling a spade a spade every single time.

Grovelling, sniffing, apologizing and ignoring voters half the time isn't fighting and makes the times they do fight look like token gestures.

I can forgive some of that immediately after 9/11 and through maybe 2002, but after that, there was really no excuse for not consistently behaving as an opposition party.

Edited on Wed Feb-22-06 07:42 PM by SoCalDem
will denounce Bush, and will be portrayed by the media as "being less than helpful, and obstructionist and devoid of any positive ideas"..

republicans who challenge Bush will be portrayed as BOLD, DECISIVE, PATRIOTIC and PRINCIPLED

36. in new Harpers, John Conyers says why he intro'd articles of impeachment
He said he didn't want people to be able to say in the future they didn't know what was going on now, they didn't know what Bush was doing to our democracy. Since it is on the record, they won't have that excuse. If the Democrats had taken this attitude throughout, Bush wouldn't have gotten this far.

Funny, I must have missed the endless speeches that make up a filibuster. Maybe I missed it because of the noise made by the bold senators voting for Alito or for cloture.
