1. Yeah
My guess is a certain percent of that is jerks who are jerks. And they are going to be onery just because they don't like a poll that has an obvious right answer.

2. George Carlin says most Americans are nitwits and assholes
...and they VOTE!

It's really amazing how some just fail to engage the brain when making decisions!

6. I love Geroge Carlin, but he is a nitwit and asshole who doesn't
vote, so, in my book, he has no right to complain.

8. Well, I am certainly not endorsing him for public office
but I always enjoy his commentary.

3. Maybe that 4% represents people who enjoy gunshot-wound news stories?
I don't know, either.

9. More likely it represents those people who feel it's their patriotic
duty to support Bush/Cheney and defend them under any circumstances. From things I've read on some sympathetic websites, some of them admire Cheney for taking the responsibility for shooting Mr. Whittington since it was clearly his own fault that he was shot. It just shows what a wonderful person he is, the poor man.

10. Is responsibility that far gone?
That taking responsibility for doing something THAT YOU'VE DONE is considered admirable, as opposed to simply common sense?

4. They used a very poorly-worded question
People are easily confused -- they could easily interpret the question to mean something like did it make you more sure of ("positive") your opinion of Cheney.

5. The really interesting number is 69% no change
Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 03:39 PM by Plaid Adder
Because that tells you that their opinion of the VP is ALREADY at rock bottom.

Cheney's approval rating is, what, 29%? If you add the 4% bughouse-nuts column to the 24% "more negative" column, that's 28. To me, that says that most of the people who actually used to support Cheney are represented by those two choices. The rest of the country--69%-- said 'no change' not because they think shooting guys in the face is A-OK but because they *already* know he's a menace and an asshole, and can no longer surprised by his shenanigans.

Cause I'd have voted "no effect" too, because basically the guy could drink human blood on live TV and it would have no effect on my opinion of him. It is interesting that so many people seem to share that perspective.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

7. No effect needs to be split:
Something like
1) No Effect- Already have low opininion.
2) No Effect- Already have high opinion.
