Just had a thought about this Ted Kennedy, Dick Cheney thing...
repugs are bringing up Ted Kennedy leaving the scene of an accident as rationale to explain away Cheney's screwup. My question is how long after the Kennedy accident did the authorities and the public know (remember there was no instant compunication then ) compared to Cheney's. How long after did the authorities claim "case closed" on Kennedy? Just a thought on come backs for this stupid comparison.

1. 30 years later we're still hearing about Chappaquiddick
but the Puggies want us to "get past" Cheney's little problem RIGHT NOW!!

2. Chap'k stopped Tk's hopes of becoming Prezzydent. Dick BangBang Cheney
should also forgo the possibility.

4. The next day, IIRC.

Still not clear how this accident occurred, or even who was driving.
I'm in the camp that Ted was not even in the car at the time of the accident*, but was prior to it, which would be why he could appear unruffled the next a.m. yet still in need of keeping his rendezvous on the q.t.
*No, I don't buy his story of trying to save her and then swimming to shore.

5. Yeah, it's certainly not a "closed case"
I saw an "Investigative Reports" episode some time ago that concluded that Mary Jo was actually the driver. That she had dropped Teddy off before going over the bridge.

6. Maybe I'm too soft, but Kennedy, Cheney, and Laura Bush
had accidents. What they did was not intentional. Now, I really wish we would afford the same sort of forgiveness to an 18-year old poor white boy who kills his friends whilst driving as we did to Kennedy and Bush. (In all fairness, Cheney's victim did not die, so there probably legitimately was no crime).

I think taking glee in accidents, whether it be Chappaquidick or the hunting case, should take a back seat in politics to the real issues.

7. WHY is it these gutless enablers have to blame a Democrat ?
why is it the victims fault until the flack over the callousness of that fetid defense tactic sinks in?

Anyone who defends Cheny when he lacked the balls to call a press conference and state the simple TRUTH.
