Whittington to issue a statement....
Heard this on MSRNC a few minutes ago. They said around 1:00pm...didn't get if that is central or eastern. They also said he didn't want questions, would just issue statement. They mentioned that he originally said he wouldn't comment out of respect for Cheney.

1. Hmmm...raspy voice must be better, or is this a written statement?
I also doubt it will be videoed.

3. Why bother, the only statement he will give will be....
written by Cheney's office.

5. Yeah, but I think the story is still hanging around....
And worrying them, hence they get the victim to talk.

15. And I 'll bet Cheney's office
has strongly suggested to Harry Whittington exactly what he should say in his statement. Hell, being a good Republican, Harry probably doesn't even mind that Dick Cheney shot him in the face (talk about taking one for the team...).

22. He will probably say it wasn't Cheney's fault, we weren't...
drinking alcohol, my wife and other people were there (meaning they weren't alone with the two women), I'm fine and it wasn't a serious injury, it's a private matter that is why it took so long to report it and last but not least hunting little birds is a good thing.

if there's a blue dress involved.

6. Written statement?
Or will they wheel him out?

If it's written it ain't worth the paper wasted on it. If they wheel him out, well

7. Hmm would it be "That drunken bastard shot me?"
Or will he remain loyal to the repuke party? I think he'll fall on the sword for this one.

14. Republicans never "fall on the sword"; they exploit tragedy for profits.
Be it 9/11, Katrina, or getting shot by Cheney - this is a very savvy old Texas politico/lawyer who has carried the water to cover up "Funeralgate" scandals for both Jeb & W. I think Harry's first cogent thought was, "Hooweee! Cheney & the GOP will pay a shitload of $$$$ to me for keeping my mouth shut on this one." Like W, Harry sees disasters as sources of profit.

17. The repuke motto should be "where money lies honor dies."
Of course that is based on the assumption that they had honor to begin with.

'much ado about nothing' as he was roughly purported to have said.

If Whitty was drinking he will lie especially well.

18. Sounds Like A Written Statement
I'm willing to give Whittington some slack here...he's probably a very proud and private man and having a camera stuck in your face when you're in a hospital is right up there with having a rectal thermometer stuck in you.

My bets are we'll get Crashcart's "speech"...and then a statement and possibly a White House/hospital photo go go with the letter saying "I'm fine...leave my buddy Dickie alone...go away". That's fine with me...I'd like to be hearing from the other witness to the shooting...

...or get run over by his own car
...or his small plane falls out of the sky
...or...

20. "I'm not pinin'! . . . I've passed on! . . .
This Republican lawyer is no more!

I have ceased to be!

I've expired and gone to meet me maker!

I'm a stiff!

Bereft of life, I rest in peace!

If you hadn't nailed me to the ICU bed I'd be pushing up the daisies!

My metabolic processes are now history!

I'm off the twig!

I've kicked the bucket, shuffled off me mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

I am an ex-Republican lawyer!"
