Shot at eye-level at 30 yards
So Cheney was shooting at birds that hadn't left the ground? At 30 yards? When/where might we see a re-inactment? I have not heard anyone really discuss the physics of this accident. I have heard that 5:30 is "late in the day" to be quail hunting because of the light level. Early morning or late afternoon could cause one to be directly facing the sun. Did Cheney just swing to the side with the gun level? I would like the same details the local news reports when there is a drive-by in the West Oakland.

VIDEO: Cheney Hunting Accident Simulation

Corpus Christi Caller-Times photographer (and avid quail hunter) George Gongora simulates the impact of Cheney’s shotgun on Mr. Harry Whittington. Here is an image of how much lead would have struck Mr. Whittington:

2. That is also called shooting a grounded Covey.
Something a real hunter never ever does or will admit. I do not hunt quail, I like to hear "BobWhite" in the summer and set out food plots for them on the farm.

3. Hunting quail is like shooting chickens...they dont fly so good/high
Hence the low shot...

6. In good cover Quail may have the advantage.
Cheney was hunting in a field, they were most probably tame birds. Notice there is no mention of dogs and they drove up to the field.

5. A good police interrogator or prosecutor
could crush the witness's "stories" .... and make a very good case for
obstruction and conspiracy. Whether that's actually happening is another story.
Perhaps an astute reporter will watch the money flow.

7. They are differing statements about distance
Some say 30 yards, some say 30 ft.

To penetrate to the heart I say 30 ft.
