Dems CAN be AS CORRUPT as REPUBS... That's not the ISSUE
The ISSUE is that REPUBS ARE CORRUPT, but even more importantly, THE REPUBS HAVE TOTAL POWER: Legislative Control, Executive Control AND Judicial Control.

The TOTAL CONTROL has made them DRUNK WITH POWER. And when a group is THAT POWERFUL, THEY BECOME ARROGANT and DELUSIONAL, thinking that they can not be made to answer for their crimes.

However, the system is RUN BY PEOPLE, INDIVIDUALS, WHO ARE NOT WITH TOTAL POWER. Those who have power can not have power without controlling those who are perceived to NOT HAVE CONTROL. But that is a mis-perception of the REPUBS. They believe those doing work for them will not be able to prosecute them. AND THAT WILL BE THEIR DOWNFALL.

There are members of the justice department who are not in agreement with the corruption that has been uncovered, and these individuals will see to it that justice is served.

1. I Don't Think Total Control Made Them Corrupt
I think they always have been corrupt, but thought they would get away with their corruption due to being in control. I also believe they stole elections in order to gain control of Congress and the White House.

7. No, in fact, the corruption is what put them in control.
All of Delay's machinations, for example, really went to solidifying the republican control of all levels of goverment and to gerrymander and supreme court nominee and MSM this country into a system of control that could not be removed no matter what the large majority of Americans wanted.

If it were only politicians puttting bux in their pocket, it wouldn't bother me so much. But it's an attempt to systemically thwart democracy.

And what really scares me is: it may have worked. Putting delay in jail, a clearly failed war, crappy pro rich policies, a staggering economy, ecological disaster, and we may still have repulbicans in control. The system of money, gerrymandering, secrecy, lies and a compliant congress and MSM living off the crumbs of a corrupt system may outlive all of today's repug players.

2. Can be as corrupt. But they aren't. Simple as that.
Anyone who is that corrupt, regardless of power, should be prosecuted.

Don't know why republicans are getting all defensive and can't agree with that simple sentiment.

3. You should learn about framing.
Never say anything about Democrats being corrupt, even to say it's not the issue.

If I tell you not to think of an Elephant you immediately do, even tho I told you not to.

Your message is "Republicans are drunk with power" you don't need to concede anything about what Democrats might have been in the past. If you bring that up the person you are talking to might just assume, well ok, then the Dems will get in and they'll be corrupted by power. Don't let that happen.

13. Yeah
I should have mentioned "Don't think of an Elephant, by George Lakoff.", a great one-day read that teaches you about framing.

6. It's intended as "Anyone CAN be Corrupt"
And it's true, ANYONE can be. The issue is, REPUBS ARE.

I'll still take your point and use it moving forward.

9. They system is corrupt. The pols (R)(D) are just playing the game.
If any of them get caught with their fingers obviously sticky, then they should be bounced out and put in time. The idea that one party is "less corrupt" isn't exactly a great selling point.

There's plenty of money to go around to all those who yearn to keep getting elected and are willing to overlook the moral/ethical questions involved in taking the handouts.

A pox on all of them and a time to change the system. Fat chance though, seeing as how the politicians who take the dough make the laws.

Is it any wonder that a huge portion of the electorate stay home and do something useful on election day?

10. The Democratic Party is not as corrupt
Some people need to go read 100+ years of history and then come back and tell me the Democratic Party has been historically as corrupt as Republicans. Certainly any individual can be corrupted, but I have never seen the permeating corruption in the Democratic Party at the same level of Republicans. Even with Tammany Hall, it was Democrats who stood up against their own corruption, completely different than would ever happen with Republicans.

12. Democrats root out corruption either way
Republicans won't do that if it hurts them politically. Republicans are also tied to more money than they should and almost have control of all the resource so they can manipulate the system and cause a lot of problems.
