"Alcohol" mentioned for first time on CNN re: Cheney's shooting
"No alcohol was involved."

I don't trust CNN much more than Cheney, I'm just relaying what I just heard. It directly addresses a subject brought up on several threads today.

12. Don't read anything into it other than what I posted
That is all CNN said, while doing a report on the delay in reporting the shooting. No explanation for how they reached that conclusion, or who reached it. I am only posting an update for the board.

The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of the author, the management, DU staffers, their hosts or agents.

8. CNN also said that Kerry just "posed" with guns.
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 05:34 PM by blm
Completely ignoring the fact that he won medals in Vietnam for his bravey in war and was an expert marksman who hunted for 50+ years.

Why should they be believed when they're obviously in coverup for the Bushboy mode.

17. blm was mixing things up, beet
The Kerry remark had nothing to do with this story. They said it earlier in the day, in a short segment they've re-run several times about president's who hunted. They mentioned every modern president, not just Kerry. They mentioned Nixon being totally out of place in nature, Kennedy having snakes rounded up and set free (or was that Carter?), and several tidbits about various pres' and hunting. The ONLY comment about Kerry was "John Kerry posed with guns" with that famous photo of him in the field in camo gear. That's it.

25. reagan set the snakes free, and the bit i saw said kerry got a duck.....
(and they showed tape of him w/ said duck.) said kerry enjoyed hunting for the camraderie in the field, not to rack up a lot of kills.
carter and kennedy did not emjoy hunting, although they mentioned they both had at least once in their lives.

29. The reason not to believe what CNN says about the Cheney incident.
They earlier today tried to smear Kerry during their "hunting" segment to distract from Cheney's responsibility.

They lied to do it - so I believe they would lie about this, too.

11. It appeared on the police report:
"Did not appear to be impared by alcohol" or something to that effect. Pure bullsh*t, I'm sure. The only logical explaination for Cheney going into his bunker for 24 hours after the shooting, is that he was drunk when he shot the guy. That also explains why the shooting victim told the hospital that he wouldn't have any comment. He was drunk too.

20. "The only logical explaination..."
Says who?

I can think of several "logical explanations." Why is that one the only one? Because it is the one you've signed on to? What if the police are correct? What if CNN is correct? What if Cheney really quit drinking? How do you know with such certainty what the only explanation is?

19. Ron Reagan asked about the possibility that cheney had
been drinking yesterday on tweety's show yesterday. Everyone just kind of glossed over that question.

I think he was drunk. It's the only reason he wouldn't have talked to the sheriff the day of the incident.

23. " It's the only reason he wouldn't have talked to the sheriff..."
The ONLY reason? Perhaps he wouldn't talk to the sheriff because he's an arrogant, power-mad prick who is used to always getting people to snap-to and do as they're ordered? Perhaps, perhaps not. Ron Reagan is a smart man, and he POSED A QUESTION. You and several other DUers I've encountered today seem to think that because Ron Reagan raised the question, the answer must be definite, or "the only reason."

Nonsense. Neither of us know the truth. The difference between us is apparently that I know I don't know.

30. more like: there's no other good reason to avoid the police, and SOP for
a drunk in trouble, avoid the cops till they can't prove a thing.
and then you use the standard, "i was so freaked out, i forgot to deal with..."
it's a beautiful ploy, because you get to play the traumatised victim, have memory problems, crow all you want about your concern, instead of dealing with things like a grownup.
if he was so damned concerned and/or sober, he would have went to the hospital saturday, instead of having dinner and haatching a story to blame the victim.

35. Actually, I have a mind of my own and had those thoughts before
I heard R. Reagan ask the question.

Dick is an arrogant, power mad prick who is used to always getting people to snap to and do as they're ordered. That may very well be the answer to the question, I don't know?!? I was guessing like everyone else - I guess I didn't state that clearly enough - I certainly wasn't professing to have the answer.

Happy Valentine's Day
