Why won't Hackett run for Congress?
Isn't something better than nothing?

He knows how bad this country needs sane alternatives to republican 'party before country' types, so why does he seem to be just taking his toys and going home?

I'm not happy with the way this has gone down, but really... why not try for the seat he nearly won last time?

Is there a good reason? Or just ego and pride?

1. In one of these threads, I read he said he promised the person
who is running that he wouldn't run against them. So, it seems to be a matter of keeping a promise.

2. Supposedly he told other Dems he wouldn't
And he seems to be a man of his word. But there is nothing keeping him from a third party run, or at least trying to kick ass, er kick start the spineless dems who allegedly forced him out.

9. I'm not in OH, so have been getting info only on these threads.
Volcano Jen says no one in SE OH knows who Brown is, and that's where Dems lose to the Thugs.

The Feldman poll that shows Hackett behind Brown looks to be a DLC poll from where I sit.

And, it looks like the Dem running for the House seat checked with Hackett before declaring. Hackett promised not to run.

Outside looking in, why not let OH Dems choose for themselves?

4. No he gave his word to the dems running there
that he would not come back in if he dropped his senate bid.

It is called character.

7. You got it. Ego and pride.
And the fact that since he's never been in politics he's just shocked, shocked, shocked that its so unfair.

Paul Hackett has lost my support with his sour grapes bellyaching. Show some class Paul.

11. "Bellyaching"
Did you even read his statement? If you did, how about quoting the bellyaching part? Bellyaching is what we will all be doing if Brown doesn't win the seat, the so-called leadership, has said it was his turn to try for.
