Religious right now attacks Barbie
Oh brother! Tinky Winky, Spongebob, American Girls and now Barbie.

From Americablog: http://americablog.blogspot.com/ (scroll down some)

Snip: <The religious right is now attacking Barbie for promoting "gender confusion." According to the men at the Concerned Women for America, Barbie is urging kids to go bi:

"This is directed at children aged four to eight... that's a really young age to be directing something along the lines of bisexuality."

Yes, Barbie is making four year olds want to have sex with other four year olds of the same gender. And the Concerned Men would prefer that children have sex with four year olds of the opposite gender, I guess.

What's really going on here is that the religious right has been attacking Mattel for months, just like they went after Ford and Microsoft and Allstate and Kraft and every other major American company. This is just another way for them to attack Mattel and get Mattel to do something bigoted to make amends.

But claiming that Barbie is promoting bisexuality to four year olds, that's just whacked.

PS They also attack Barbie for not being a good Christian because good Christian girls only want to serve the Lord, get married, stay at home and have kids. I'm not making this up. I guess if you're a woman (or a doll) who wants a career, then you're a dyke. Link for the group: http://www.cwfa.org/articles/9788/CWA/misc/ >

I guess because so many of my fellow friends at my church are in college and one of my best friends this past summer graduated college to do social work is a bad Christian. :eyes: I guess I should tell her Sunday.

38. I don't think it was the
"I don't know" that set them off. The "I am a boy" part is probably the likely culprit. Boys are not supposed to be playing with Barbies. Tell me what you think the reaction would be if a "fundy" parant caught their little boy playing with a barbie?

Maybe we should just let some things go, eh?

I know the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" and all, but screw Barbie.

Barbie is literally the poster child of attaining happiness through buying stuff with brand names on them, so screw her and her pink Corvette. Let the kooky right just try to eat up large corporations. That's one fight I'd be only too happy to sit back and watch happen.

Who gives a crap? Don't like Barbie? Don't buy it. Who cares. I had a Barbie. About two/three of them. I even had a Jam Barbie doll that had earrings that lit up and came with a cassette tape that played songs from the tv show. It's fun for when you're a little kid to use your imagination. I knew Barbie wasn't a real figure and things like that.

12. Barbie's been around for about 50 years I think. They had no problem
with Barbie promoting impossible female figures and imprinting glamour into young ladies brains as the big goal in life to get a husband. Then Barbie has Ken. But now all of a sudden she's promoting sex? I think these right wing nuts need a psycologist. They have a very big problem with sex. How in the world do they reproduce? You would think each generation of these sex haters would die childless.

Sex, sex, sex! Abortion or something with "the gay lifestyle." When do they care about the enviornment? Helping the poor? Stopping the government from doing illegal things like spying on Americans? How about all the prisoners who have been put in prison and are charged with nothing? (Guntanamo Bay) The only thing Jesus talked about where it concerns sex is marriage and the importance of keeping it and not having divorce and adultery. He never talked about "the gay lifestyle" or anything like that.
These people do nothing more than use Christianity as their cover. They're just like the extreme Muslims like BinLadin. No difference at all.

55. I learned this from 2 of these nutjobs while working the book fair at my
youngest child's elementary school. First they were pissed at Wal-Mart and Mattel for a pregnant Barbie. Apparently this Barbie came equipped with a little pouch-type thingy and then she became a mommy. Then they were pissed at American Girls for supporting abortions and abortionists. They don't like the Bratz dolls either. Needless to say I enjoyed f'in with them just a little bit, so I guess that means I'm gonna burn in hell, too.

25. Hello? I'm sitting next to 25 Barbies...
...and I'm not getting any bisexual messages from any of these 25 dolls.

My two daughters have a mountain of Barbies, dresses, shoes, and other accessories.

I'm looking through the Barbie collection here. I see sparkly dresses, silver crowns and plastic, glittery high-heels.

What's bisexual about those things?

I'm looking through the pink Barbie dresses, and I still see no signs of bisexual phenomena. Barbie does look nice in her taffeta flowered dress. Those legs....so long. Her hair...so blonde and silky. Damn. I've never noticed it before, but Barbie is HOT!!!

What's happening? I'm feeling kinda funny inside.

I'm suddenly attracted to Barbie, and ALSO my neighbor Sheila. Yes, I'm a heterosexual, married woman--but suddenly, I cannot stop fantasizing about running off to Aruba with Sheila. Marriage, be damned!! I'm feeling...sorta...BISEXUAL!!!!

Batten the hatches!!! Lock the toy boxes!!! We'll all be bisexual within weeks!!!!

Oh, Mattel. You wicked, wicked company.

I must go now. Sheila awaits.

Apparently there was (allegedly) a poll at the Barbie.com website that asked children their age (from 4-8) and their gender. It apparently gave them three choices for gender--girl, boy and "I don't know". The third choice is what has the whackjobs up in arms, as they think this is promoting trangenderism/transsexualism/"questioning" youth. The guy went into a whole litany about how these kids are too young to have this homosexual agenda GLBTQ stuff foisted upon them.

I don't suppose they ever thought of the possibility, however remote, that a 4 year old who grew up in a repressive and culturally deprived home might not be sure if they were a boy or girl. The child might also have a learning disability that prevented him/her from being sure as to their gender at such a young age. Bad old Mattell Corporation for being sensitive to such matters. :sarcasm:

Here is a link to the synopsis of the issue, which contains a link to the audio file: http://www.cwfa.org/printerfriendly.asp?id=9788&department=cwa&categoryid=misc

39. Mattel should respond with a pregnant Barbie line.
Whether they choose to do it with full “trimester” Barbies or trimester prosthetics, it opens up a whole new line of accessories and outfits. Not to worry about how gay Ken got Barbie pregnant in the first place. Children just put Ken on top of Barbie and go with their childlike imagination.

On the other hand, the concerned men and women of this organization have a very childish approach to their imagination and propaganda. Spite. Attack the weakest. Dolls don’t and can’t fight back. The Mattel corporation might respond, but this offense is solely in the mind of the beholder.

I’m not here to defend the honor or profitability of bi-Barbie and gay Ken, but these bisexual concerns from the “concerned” call way too much attention to their real agenda. They’ve either stepped out for or have been cuckolded by a same sex experience. More likely, they’ve wanted to, but have had no takers.

Finally, the irony in all of this is that I imagine these desperately concerned pricks and pussies to look like bi-Barbie and gay Ken.

41. CWA Says Barbie Website Promotes Gender Confusion
CWA Says Barbie Website Promotes Gender Confusion

Monday, Jan. 2, 2006 Posted: 4:55:37PM EST

The Barbie Doll website is asking children aged 4-8 for their sex.

A poll on the Barbie Doll's website asks children to select their gender, and there are not two, but three choices. ''I don't know'' is the third option, and Christian ministries point out the homosexual agenda behind this latest move made by Mattel, the toy company that owns Girl Dolls, Fisher-Price, and Hot Wheels. (Photo: The Christian Post)

The choices are three: “girl,” “boy,” and “I don't know."

This new move by the iconic and trend-setting Barbie Doll is promoting gender confusion among children, according to Concerned Women for America (CWA).

Director of the ministry's Culture & Family Institute, Bob Knight, gave the inside message behind this latest move of the homosexual activist agenda.

"It's the idea that well, maybe people aren't born a particular biological sex, or they are but that shouldn't determine their gender identity," Knight said. "And that's a very big component of the homosexual activist agenda now."

The acronyms for the movement used to be limited to L and G, which stands for lesbian and gay. Then they added the letter, B, which means bisexual. Now it's LGBT – lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender – and some even add Q, which stands for questioning youth, Knight pointed out.

"In other words, any kid who's not sure about who he is, he's fair game to try to persuade to have same sex acts," said Knight.
