Poll question: More infuriating: A bush supporter or an indifferent adult citizen?
for me, people so damned busy or lazy or protective of their cushy little world to do anything other than ignore is probably worse. bushbots either hate America, or are mentally ill. but apathetic people who just can't be bothered to even LOOK and THINK are at least as bad.

no respect to bush bots meant

1. I'd take an indifferent any day over a crowd of Bushies!
Bushbots are zombies. They are extremists and therefore totally close-minded, with plenty of rationalizations cooked up against any type of logical reasoining or facts. (See religious zealot.)

Now, the indifferent are simply indifferent because they don't realize they're in danger. In other words, they're ignorant. And ignorant is preferable to stupid any day. Once you're able to show them facts, they usually come around.

2. I don't know.. I kinda enjoy slamming their little faces into the wall
of reality. When I hear them complain about their gas bills like the owner of a bowling alley did today about his 3200.00 gas bill. You can thank bush and his gang of corporate greed monsters for that (slam goes their little faces) creating false shortages to keep prices high... 36 billion dollars in profits..(another slam) and what do they get?.....(bam bam super slam)... more tax breaks. By this time they're usually in a stupor and don't know what to say.

I know it's silly... but I'm kinda fond of the little goobers... and once in a while, I even get through to them. So yeah I'd say the bush supporter is worse... only because you have to smack their little faces till they're bloody before you get through and I just hate cleaning up the mess.

8. Reminds me of my favorite joke.
What do slinky's and Repukes have in common? They are both pretty useless and fun to push down the stairs.

3. let me tell you guys a story.....
I moderate a small non-political mailing list. Last week one of the other moderators sent a message that had pictures of the Iraq war. These were old pictures of right after the invasion......basically they were what I refer to as nothing more than propoganda.

Since it was sent by one of the other moderators, my first thought was to just delete it and move on. So I did delete it but I got this nagging feeling about it and I knew I had to say something about it.

I wrote a very logical response and backed it up with some facts. I never did hear from the moderator who posted it so I don't know even saw it. But I did hear from another lady in the group who lives in the UK. She and I have been writing to each other ever since last weekend.

And even if none of the others agreed with me, hopefully I gave them something to think about.

4. Had to go "indifferent."
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 11:01 PM by BlueIris
Even among people who vote Democrat because they thought it sounded like a good idea, a shockingly high number of them don't understand WHY they should care. Just--no fat clue there about how fucked up things are. A Bush supporter, long-term, (loooooong term) may have a chance to change his or her mind about the messed up things they have wrong opinions about. Someone who is indifferent? I can't work with that. I can't hope for that. I have to have evidence of COGNITION to believe a citizen can be saved.

5. The bush bot is worse.
One can at least reason with an apathetic person.

6. Bush bots make sense...
...in that they fall for the propaganda. Considering the amount of money poured into it, that is not surprising. It's the indifferent ones that really annoy me.

7. other. It is too close to call.
I don't hate the freeper till they open their mouths. The indifferent people make me want to scream at them "haven't you been paying attention!" Both irritate me in different ways.

9. as a former indifferent adult citizen, i take offense.
i must say, finding a board like this makes a difference, and here is why:

1. a lot of teen, 20, & 30 somethings do not see a difference in the parties. this is a partisan media problem, and a whatisthedifference DLC/leadership problem - saving gunpowder, or enabling the other party doesn't make me buy poster board in bulk - also, 30 second soundbites do not garner support when all you can claim is "we can do better" during a war criminal's SOTU.

2. "representative democracy & futility" - NASA sends bees into space to test the effect of zero gravity on social insects, how does this affect me, and my 60+ hour day job? the people we elect vote for their own pay raises/perpetual social security, why the hell should i get off my couch, are they going to do something for me? is there a point? what am i, Sissi-whatshisname, rolling boulders up a hill? taking time out of my day to vote for Uncle Nelson? are you kidding, i lost a half-day of wages! does he represent me in something other than a board game capacity? maybe i should just spend my sunday licking squashed reptile guts off of katherine harris's spike heels.

there are a lot more complex ideas about the feeling of futility that motivates people to NOT take part in our representative democracy, and i could go on-and-on about the pissing in the wind feeling when Obama, et al let us down on something as simple as alito, and why i damn near gave up....again.

however, DU offers more than soundbites and enablers, and takes the partisan media to task. Sure, there are a few "undeclared gender" apologists/disruptors here, but at least the rest of us can unite and make a change, expose a gannon, or come up with an alternative to nelson.

what we need to work on, is getting the apathetic types here. trust me, if you hear them pissing and moaning, then they are ripe for a referral.

10. Unfortunately it's harder than it should be to get well informed
Our media's become so bad that it actually takes significant effort for people to be informed about what is actually going on. So, in a way, well-intentioned, but grossly misinformed Bush-bots and the indifferent, for whom getting informed is harder than it should be, are equally noninfuriating. Of course, the informed, but just evil/greedy Bushbot make that group overall more infuriating.
