What is the deal with Jesse Jackson & the King family?
Someone (okay, it was Glen Beck, RW nutjobber) was saying that one of the reasons Jackson didn't have a speaking role at the funeral was because there was bad blood between him and the King family. He said it stemmed from Jackson's actions the day of the MLK assassination. I knew that Jesse was with him that day, but I didn't know that he had done anything to warrant any negative feelings.

Is there anything to this, or is it just more RW dribble crap?

7. If anyone is guilty of politicizing the funeral, it's the RW nutjobs
They want to make a big deal over what was said at her funeral - which was actually quite consistent with her views. Methinks if anyone is guilty of politicizing her funeral, it's the racist RWers, trying to use this occasion to make their own idiot points.

Jackson supposedly, at one time quite some time ago, exaggerated his role in the events immediately after the shooting.

I don't think the King family is like that. It probably isn't a big deal anymore.

10. Probably a reference to Taylor Branch's latest volume
Branch, who has not been available for interviews, also writes of heated arguments King had with some of his closest colleagues, including Jackson, whom he accused of trying to use the civil rights movement to promote himself. Jackson did not return calls seeking comment.

Though I haven't read the book, that line doesn't necessarily mean there was bad blood between Jackson and the Kings. Some "heated arguments" don't make a feud.

11. Have heard from several sources....
That Jesse Jackson was reputed to have grand standed his part / roll during the MLK assassination event - rumor has it that Jesse opportunistically put his hands in MLK's blood and wiped it on his shirt to bring attention to himself in the media ... don't know how true it is.... but that is what I've heard....

13. Wasn't there some right wing book that said that he wasn't even there?
Would be kinda hard for both those rumors to be true.

I wouldn't believe anything Beck says anyway. What a sicko. He once suggested someone should kill Michael Moore.

Has he gotten his show on CNN yet?
