5. And they are getting away with it! That is what
is so mind boggling! I hope she is truly sincere and it isn't some ploy by the right to *investigate and cover-up*. Fingers, arms, legs, toes and eyes crossed, waiting.

:hi:

6. Unfortunately, it sounds as if they're coordinating the
talking points. I hate to be so cynical; I really do.

7. I used to be optimistic and a pacifist.
I'm still hanging on to the pacifism, for now. And my cynicism has made me feel a bit ashamed at times lately, but I can't seem to help it some days. More and more.

Once you wake up to the nightmare of this particular government it's self-preserving to be cynical. And impossible to go back to sleep again.

We'll get through it. Somehow.

In peace and hope,
V

8. Making illegal acts legal! They're following in Hitler's footsteps!
The Republicans want to impose a Homeland Security police state! Bastards! May they all rot in prison for life!

10. I was sort of quoting Robert Byrd when I said that.
Back when the Republicans were talking about using the nuclear option, Byrd gave a speech on the Senate floor warning them that it wasn't a good idea. He said something like "Hitler never abandoned the cloak of legality. He always insisted on standing by the law so much, that he turned the law inside out. And he made the illegality legal." Meaning he tried to justify and legitimize all the horrible things he did. Byrd was right on in his statement.

11. I would be willing to bet there
are occasions that the law was changed to accommodate Hitler before the Reichstag fire. I'm going to start digging. I need more ammo against Specter.

Thanks for the inspiration IL!

In peace and hope,
V
