* finally had to sit there and hear what people actually think.
This man insulates himself with freedom zones and like minded folks who will not tell him anything he does not want to hear. He has built a wall that, until now, seemed impenetrable.

Coretta Scott King built a life on tearing down walls and being out with the people. She and her husband made it a point to hear people and to speak for them.

* knew whose funeral he was attending. He knew what she and her husband had done in life. Heck, Coretta even came out on the side of gay people. * is a big boy but decided to go just for publicity (especially after New Orleans. Nothing is real with these people.

When people got up to speak, they spoke about things that Coretta cared about. They spoke about things Coretta fought for. They did not get up and speak of anything that would not have been an important part of how Coretta felt and acted. This funeral was not set up just to get a jab in at the neo-cons.

All of that being said, I am happy King George was sitting there on his throne unable to move. I am glad he had to hear the truth. Why is everyone on the right so mad that the truth was spoken? I am sure if Mrs. King had been alive she would have loved to have said those things herself.

To the right: Do not raise yourself so high on a platform that you think you are good enough to turn a wonderful celebration of someone's life into a tawdry affair just to get a few digs in. The fact that no WMD has ever been found has a direct effect on the black community many of whom are being used as cannon fodder and this administration has yet to announce why. Mrs. King would have wanted accountability from this administration and even though answers were not demanded yesterday, Mrs. King's memory was very much honored.

1. Frankly, I shocked he didn't want those attedning to be pre-screened...

You know...just like all of his public appearances. But then again, if that had happened Mrs. King would have been the only one at her own funeral, not counting the Chimp and his cagemate.

2. You assume that blank stare was a result of 'listening.'

4. Not Only Did Bush Have to Listen
but so did America. How often does the MSM show what is actually going on and what real people think about.

Personally, when I die, I hope someone at my funeral stands up and talks about what I believed in and the effort I put in to making my world better. If someone complains about politics, so be it. Politics is very important to me and I would be proud for everyone who doesn't know me well enough to learn that about me.

17. The shock is in the contrast to the mealy-mouthed thought control
that passes for a free media. Mercans can't handle the truth.

I agree about funerals. It reminds me of the lady's obit that mentioned "Whistle Ass." I still laugh about that one.

5. I'm surprised he didn't cover his ears like the middle chimp
("hear no evil") and start chanting, "I'm not listening" over and over.

6. He thought he was "safe"...
no one would dare criticize him at a funeral? Well, he was wrong.

7. He actually got a reverent version of what people think.
It would never have been that restrained, if he really learned what people think.

toned it down because he was there. (shame on them, BTW)

12. MSM
Due to their support of Bushco, 99.999% of American's WILL NEVER KNOW what was said at Coretta King's Funeral Serivce.

Therefore, what good did all the "speaking truth to power" actually accomplish?

It made all us DU'ers feel good for a few days, but our message is still being KILLED by MSM.

Best we can hope for is a groundswell reaction by freeper's similar to the recent Muslim reaction to Danish cartoons, which is not a nice thing to hope for.

15.  I think the criticism is legitemate....
using a forum such as this to scold the president(make political hay) betrays the solemnity of the surroundings. Its crass in every sense of the word and makes Dems look desperate for attention of the public.

Dr. King said "We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plain of dignity and discipline". This fell far short of that no matter how salient the points of the speakers were.

16. Would different words have been spoken had * not been there?
Had he not been there, would anyone have heard these words beyond a relatively small demographic?

Bush is an ass. The only thing that denigrated the proceedings was his presence in pretense of presidency.

19. I contend I am not criticizing *.
I am defending the fact that Mrs. King's legacy was extended in this funeral and I am debunking the misinformation that is being distributed by the right.

Anything I may have said about * was the truth and not meant to make political hay but, rather, put a pitchfork to the political hay the right is putting out there.

21. Before GWB
Before GWB, every SQUARE INCH of the entire AREA of EVERY STATE IN THE UNION was a "free speech zone".

the whole free speech zone thing is even more Orwellian than most everything else out of this administration.

I think it's great the CSK Funeral subjected Bush to a REAL free speech zone for a change.

22. It Was a Great Opportunity
To criticize Bush in front of his face. He hides from his critics so much, so why not criticize him when you get a rare chance to do it in front of him? I'm tired of how he won't face his critics. A President needs to listen to his critics as well as his supporters because he is supposed to serve *us*, not the other way around. Because Bush insulates himself, he is really not mature enough to be President.
