My call to "speak out" now makes my local "Speak Out"

Thanks to DU for making me aware of this quote a while back... it's always stuck in my mind. To find all the Speak Outs this week, you need to go to News and then Speak Out. The after mine is pretty sarcastic, I think. Somebody had quoted Thomas Jefferson a few weeks back regarding people giving up liberties don't deserve any, and this was the response.

Then, they came for the socialists and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist. Then, they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Replace some of the objects with Muslims, gays and intellectuals, and this quote could be from America 2006 instead of Germany in the 1930s. The time to speak out is now.
