Stripes letter: Where we shouldn't be (Iraq)
Where we shouldn’t be

At this point during the war in Iraq, it seems as if a lot less focus is put on U.S. and coalition forces and more on the division between the Shiite and the Sunni Muslim factions.

Most of the attacks coming these days in Baghdad seemed to be aimed at one faction after the other. Have we not learned our lessons from the past in meddling in other wars we should not have and later ended up in the same area again paying for what we did?. For instance the Iran-Iraq war, and the Afghan-Soviet Union war. Now, we are still in Afghanistan. We are still in Iraq, and facing a showdown with Iran. Not to mention the fact that Iran would love nothing more than to take a shot at Israel. Where does that leave the majority of U.S. forces? You got it, right in the middle and surrounded. I say get out before it’s too late.
