Gonzales did not 'testify'
I have read over and over again in the MSM how "Gonzales testified that..." or "in his testimony before the committee, Gonzales stated..."

Here's what the dictionary says about the word testimony:

a. A declaration by a witness under oath, as that given before a court or deliberative body. b. All such declarations, spoken or written, offered in a legal case or deliberative hearing.

***

So, Gonzales might have had a spirited conversation with the committee, or he might have been evasive when challenged by the committee, but in no way shape or form did he testify.

Famous Last Words: "I don't testify." - GWB

"RUSSERT: Will you testify before the commission?

BUSH: This commission? You know, I don't testify. I mean, I will be glad to visit with them. I will be glad to share with them knowledge. I will be glad to make recommendations, if they ask for some."

related to 'testes'??? Soooo, if you don't 'testify,' you don't have ........?

(this was why women couldn't 'testify'; they don't have the 'right equipment')

5. Bingo!
Forget where I read this, but men would 'testify' with a hand on their genitals. They were, in effect, swearing by their descendents that what they were saying was the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth.

6. Yes, I heard a man would hold his and swear he was telling
the truth.

Maybe from early Roman times, according to my Dad.

7. A good comment here...
As Soon as the Republicans Voted to Prohibit Gonzales from Testifying Under Oath About Illegal Wiretapping, The Democrats on the Judiciary Committee Should Have Walked Out. Period.
