President shook his hand and laughed
King eulogists jab Bush at funeral
By Karen Jacobs and Tabassum Zakaria

Speakers took a rare opportunity to criticize U.S. President George W. Bush's policies to his face at the funeral on Tuesday of Coretta Scott King, widow of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Civil-rights leader the Rev. Joseph Lowery and former President Jimmy Carter cited Mrs. King's legacy as a leader in her own right and advocate of nonviolence as they launched barbs over the Iraq war, government social policies and Bush's domestic eavesdropping program.

Bush sat watching the long service before an audience of 10,000 including politicians, civil rights leaders and entertainers at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, and a national cable television audience.

Lowery, former head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which King helped found in 1957, gave a playful reading of a poem in eulogy of Mrs. King.

"She extended Martin's message against poverty, racism and war / She deplored the terror inflicted by our smart bombs on missions way afar," he said.

"We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there / But Coretta knew and we knew that there are weapons of misdirection right down here / Millions without health insurance. Poverty abounds. For war billions more but no more for the poor."

The mourners gave a standing ovation. Bush's reaction could not be seen on the television coverage, but after Lowery finished speaking, the president shook his hand and laughed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that's from Reuters.
Does anyone really need to say anything about that?
I mean, to Shrub the statement, "For war billions more but no more for the poor," is somethingn to laugh about?
Just some riving right? You have to wonder if he's laughing because he knows he gets the last laugh. Laughing because the deck is stacked and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it.
Kind of like the scene out of True Romance where Hopper shreds Walken. Walken just laughs, knowing full well what Hopper's fate will be.
You have to wonder if Shrub is developing that same kind of laugh.
The sick twisted kind.
survived it all, given his reputed sensitivity to criticism. Bet it was a LONG, uncomfortable couple of hours.
And you never know, maybe he actually heard some of it.
4. He laughs because that's his reaction to whatever makes him uncomfortable.
It's a defense mechanism. "See? It don't bother me."
Also, for some peculiar narcissistic reason, he thinks he's charming when he laughs. :shrug:
6. Laura's body language was incredible
She was leaning as far away from the podium as she could without falling off her chair. Her legs were crossed away, and she just closed up like a clam with that Joker lipped scowl.
10. Exactly. That way Bush can claim that there is a precedent
for it. Knowing Bush's and Rove's vindictive natures I wouldn't put anything past them.
that situation. But I think I remember that Hoover did it without presidential knowledge? Anybody know?
13. Stepford Wife
That's Laura Bush in a nutshell.
When Shrub was asked if Laura would ever run for any office, he laughed and said absolutely not.
It's not a conservative thing, it's a neocon thing that's takes in the Mason way of having a wife.
Women are held up on a pedestal, but they are not to work. They're treated like a piece of artwork, to be admired, that's it.
Unless it's a single bitch working in the Shrub administration, then they're subhuman and as long as they remain single they're allowed to serve in a higher level of the neocon pecking order.
If Rice runs in '08, and she will, there won't be a first man, she's like barbie ... nothing in the private area, just skin.
