Friends, AmeriCorps NCCC is under the budget cut knife.

AmeriCorps NCCC has been an integral part of Hurricane Katrina recovery. I have been working hurricane recovery on the Mississippi Coast and the amount of work performed by these government volunteers has been admirable and outstanding. The program gives young adults a chance to serve their country without going to war, and also gives them a very modest amount of funding that can be applied to college.

Plese sign this petition and recommend this thread to help save this much needed program.

Nagin is going to look overseas for help. I am astonished. Is this going to happen in Mississippi as well I wonder. We have money to kill, but none to heal?! :grr: :grr:

would guess. I lived in AL a couple times. Of course now I'm in Pa., so I just don't learn!

they are a huge help here and we really can't afford to loose them. WTF???
