Bush is eavesdropping on political enemies....
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 08:04 PM by Postman
be they Dems, Repubs or "hostile" journalists...

The Fisa Court never really prevented the Executive Branch from spying on anyone, the reason for the FISA court is to inform someone in some other branch of gov't what it is that you are spying on, to act as a check against abuse of power.

This is why he has avoided the FISA Court. To spy on threats to his and the fascist republican party's hold on power. Do you hear that Patrick Fitzgerald??

The Bush Administration are rats trapped in the corner and are desperate.

12. Isn't it interesting that the reassembling of the old Bell system has
come from the heart of Texas? And now they want to cut off and control Internet content because they've picked up huge chunks of the Net through mergers and acquisitions. Talk about the good ol' boys getting back in the driver's seat...

15. So true. I actually worked for them for about two years
before the Great Undoing but finally quit out of sheer revulsion. And now, they're my only choice for a landline.

3. Yes. And Lindsey Graham's last round talked about
"5th columns" and all sorts of silliness. He was saying, I know what you did last summer.

8. They were illegally spying on Americans *before* 9-11, when they
couldn't even be bothered to have a meeting with Richard Clark about terrorism. Bush, Cheney, Rice- they've all commented on how '9-11 made terrorism the major concern'. Everyone knows they weren't paying attention to it *before* 9-11.

So who were they spying on?

I suspect they were spying on political and business rivals, media figures... anyone they might need to outmaneuver or -quite possibly- blackmail.

14. It was posted way back about Bolton, before he was appointed to the UN
and how he was passing information from the NSA to the WHIG/OSP. Seems like it was around the time of those long Plame and Gannon threads. Of course, there was a chorus of anti-CT and prove-it posts.

Go figure.

Every once in a while I go to the 9-11 forum. Lots of heat there. Ya need a flame suit to even comment about if the sky is blue.

Most everything that has happened in this administration has been forecast right here, on DU. Then again a lot of things that never materialized were posted too.
