votes to stop it". Words spoken by Arlen "magic bullet" Specter in reference to his ruling that Alberto "I'm not a fascist" Gonzalez.

Magic Bullet said that any false statements issued by the AG would result in a similar punishment as perjury. Hmmm.... Then why swear anyone in Arlen? If any false statement made to Congress bears the same penalty, why not swear him in?

To answer my own question, White Wash. These fucking treasonous bastards are dispicable.

1. Someone needs to ask "Why?"
and they need to ask it loud and over and over...until we get an answer! I want to hear Specter justify why he wouldn't swear Gonzales in.

2. Sessions said it was insulting to the Executive Branch...
to force the Representative of that Branch to suffer the oath. I guess taking the oath is now somehow an embarassment.

4. Taking the oath should be a matter of pride
I would want the cameras rolling if I were in that position. If I were an ethical president I'd tell my bosses (the citizens) that everyone in my administration will take the oath every time they testified as a reminder to those who serve the constitution the gravity of the situation. I believe any decent, ethical president would do the same. bush and gonzalez are embarrassing themselves. An insult to swear to tell the truth? "Conservative" values indeed.

7. Remeber the scene in "Clear and Present Danger" when Jack Ryan stands...
up and takes the Oath. That was a pretty powerful image. I guess that's just more left-wing Hollywood Propaganda.

8. I remember it well
and the "conservatives" can look to their hero olly north standing up and taking the oath. I didn't know a swearing in ceremony was beneath anyone. The president's swearing in ceremony is an all day event and way back when I was in the Navy we'd ensure the Sailor reenlisting was properly regaled after his swearing in ceremony. So sad where "conservatives" have positioned their lives today. No real pride, no real patriotism, no love of country or constitution. Just beliefs forced upon them by radical christian clerics.

5. That's what needs to be on the news tonight..
over and over. Why is it only insulting for the executive branch? If you follow that logic..the executive branch is somehow special..and we can't hurt their feelings by implying that they might lie. And..no one else should have to take the oath..otherwise we're insinuating that they may lie as well!!

This is nuts!

3. Congress would have to refer a charge against him - and they aren't
going to do so. Under perjury laws, any prosecutor could bring the charges.

It's about keeping it under RePug control.

6. After reading all the pats on the back to Spector here yesterday,
I caught the re-broadcast of "Meet the Press" yesterday. Listening to him, I sensed the hearing would be somewhat of a whitewash. I was left with the feeling that the Republicans would want to appear to be tough -- doing their duty -- but would ensure that there would be no consequences.

Spector's ears perked up every time Russert mentioned a Democrat's opinion (Carter, Schumer) & then Spector would minimize each point. Any time Russert asked him a question about tough actions the committee could take against the adminstration (i.e., getting a subpoena) or asking for certain witnesses to testify (Pres. Carter), Spector would say only that he "would consider it" or he "was thinking about it", which I consider a brush-off.

Btw, I don't trust Russert any further than I could throw him, but I was amazed at how tough he was on Boehner & against the administration on the spy program during Spector's interview.
