and everyone was down about the Alito nomination. Given up on the Democratic Party. But today, it appears the pendulum may be swinging back the other direction. The Democrats have a sure winner in protecting our Constitution. The Repubs are defending the indefensible.

4. It will go nowhere. The Dems are neutered. Everything is an opinion
under this admin. The majority "opinion" will prevail.

11. His smirk...
may actually be WORSE that Shrub's. Or - maybe not. All I know is that I would love to slap them both silly - but they're already there. And then some.

3. kentuck, I usually agree with you but not this time.
The Rethugs will let it "spin" out of control until there is no way the Dems can reel it back in. IMHO.

5. We shall see....
I think this is much more difficult for them to spin. This is a "big, big, big story" - just like Specter said on MTP yesterday.

22. Exactly. I was thinking about this just the other day.
Remembering all of the WOW! headlines I'd see at RawStory and thinking, "surely this will one get traction in the M$M" while none of them ever did.

8. I'm With You Kentuck
This is way worse for them than the others on this thread are suggesting. The spin machine is at Warp 8 for a reason. They are sinking and they know it.

10. They would spin it if they could but....
it is indefensible. The best they can hope for is a draw. :)

12. What would be the implications of a "draw"?
1. no impeachment, indictment, investigation

2. they will continue doing this and the the other stuff we dont know about

15. A draw would be :
The President would agree to abide by all laws of Congress and the Senate would end the investigation. That is what they would consider a draw - no impeachment or indictment - just assurances from the White House.

16. If there were no consequences (as i suspect), why would he change
his behavior?

Remember, inside the admin they thing the problem is the LEAKER, not the PROGRAM.

They will continue, perhaps with minor tweaks, and plug the leaks.

19. Don't be so sure. I'm not sure anything will come out of these meetings.
So far they've been pretty damned partisan. And what happens...bush* says he's right, congress says he's wrong....who wins.
