Court TV not covering Enron trial?
http://www.courttv.com/video/index.html

This is a big one, you'd think it would dominate cable news, right?

1. They can't, it's in federal court, no cameras allowed.

2. Don't you think they'll be reviewing it every day though?

I don't know, but I have to believe they'll have someone in the courtroom, and will cover what happened every night. I would much rather be able to watch, but I'll deal with recaps if I have to!

3. The trial will involve a lot of dry testimony about accounting practices.
And there will be lots of charts and piles of documents and other evidence that isn't conducive to TV coverage. Most of that trial will be as dull as dust. If anything dramatic happens I suppose they'll mention it, but white collar crime trials tend to be both complicated and dry -- and they can go on for weeks or months. Court TV is much happier with trials involving celebrity murders and missing white girls. I just can't imagine Nancy Grace and her Flaring Nostrils of Justice getting all excited about mark-to-market accounting.

5. You're right to some degree, but I heard the other day
that the prosecutor was going to approach it a bit differently. It seems that he realizes just what you said about the boring parts of accounting and he's supposed to really push the "Did or should have known" about the poor state Enron was in, and he lied anyway to his employees and the stockholders.

I've been an accountant for 40+ years and I realize how most people would find much of what they did not only boring, but because of the complex web they wove, probably wouldn't be able to follow it either. I would LOVE to hear the details, but I'm also glad to hear the prosecutor is planning to follow a different approach!

Court TV does like the celebrity trials, but Kenny Boy has become a celebrity of sorts ovet the last 5 year too! I think we'll hear more than you think!!!!

6. I watched one of those on CourtTV online -- Verdict was about $1.5 BILLION
Dull at times, but the stakes brought in some of the highest price legal teams ever.

Ron Perelman v. Morgan Stanley

A real education.
