Poll question: What do you think of Senator Hillary Clinton running for President?
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 03:05 PM by originalpckelly
May I say, she sounds a lot less like the robot queen on her website's video:

1. I'm excited to see where she goes from here.
In many ways, I think Hillary Clinton has been given the same media image as John Kerry - stiff, robotic, and menacing in some way. I look forward to seeing her participate in the debates.

It's way to early for me to say who I would vote for in the primary, but I would not hesitate to vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election.

5. Well, in the video she wasn't robotic...
but on the other hand, I personally have seen her speaking style before, and it was totally like the robot queen.

John Kerry was never robotic, he was however Frankensteinian (yes, I did make up that word.)

Edwards seems to be very smooth and so is Obama. Clark has a medium speaking style, he seems like an authentic human being speaking. And Kucinich, while I think he's the one who represents my feeling on Iraq most, he doesn't exactly seem like he has a chance in hell of winning either the primaries or the general election.

13. I've seen Edwards

....and he is far more charismatic in person than on tv.

He can really grab an audience.

Cheers

10. Same here

All the players are not in the game yet, so I'm not sure who I would vote for in the primary.

However if Hillary won the primary, I would have no problem voting for her in the general election.

Cheers

2. I really like Hillary and I always have
I don't know if she has a chance to win a general election. I'd vote for her if she is the one, but I'm currently supporting Edwards for the primary.

3. She will likely be the Dem nominee.
Obama may well not live up to expectations as a candidate, and Edwards often comes across as somewhat of a lightweight. The race is Hillary's to lose, and she likely will make no major mistakes.

8. Don't be so sure
We're not the GOP. We don't anoint a candidate.

7. I'll vote for her if she is the dem candidate..
But not in the primary.

On the other hand..... part of me wants her to win the primaries, because all the wing-nut's heads would explode at the same time. That would be kind of fun.

11. Yes, I know. I want a woman President, this fucking country is WAY overdue...
for one, but on the other hand, this particular woman doesn't exactly strike me as the best candidate. It sucks Governor Granholm of Michigan can't run, she'd be the absolute perfect first woman President. She has this freaking wonderful down to Earth speaking style, and she's a very good manager.

12. Sounds like Robot Queen 2.0 to me.
And "let's have a conversation" sounds like "finger in the wind 2.0".

Let's just say I'm glad we have alternatives.

The best coach in the world wouldn't be able to make Hillary seem natural.

15. I love her when the Limbaugh crowd attacks her.
I also love her when her detractors whisper that she's a lesbian. I don't care if she is or not, but I object to their xenophobic bullshit. It's a form of hyper-misogyny, and Senator Clinton should not be its target.

I'm less enthusiastic if I have a wide selection on my primary ballot, though, and I don't want center-right trends in my party. It doesn't mean I'm going to get my way all th time. She's good at rounding edges, but too much edge-rounding makes a politician a generic version of a public servant, and political success starts to trump principled ideology.

Some folks I know took care to notice Sen. Clinton's recent trip abroad, DLC star Evan Bayh in tow. That's not exactly a first-choice ticket at my house.

I don't think she'd be a bad president, and God knows she'd be a great improvement over the little puke in there now. No argument there. I can make the case for her if I have to.

But I also don't think she survives the Iowa caucus. I don't think she can trounce her Democratic opponents in primary debates, and I think the 2008 environment generally favors a more decisive candidate.

17. Other - I'm not American so can't vote; but...
I would rather see her as president than ANY likely Republican candidate.

There are some other Democrats who would probably be better; but right at the moment, the main thing that the world needs is an end to Bush and his pals and clones (in which category I would certainly include McCain).

18. Right now my bet is on Edwards, but I would vote for Hillary
I would vote for her is Edwards and Obama are not in the race.

BUT! It all depends on each and every candidates stand on the issues going in to the election. Not some media whores take on their stands but what the candidate has said and where they stand on not just one issue but all the issues.

It is not a simple process of I like the way they look or their stand on this issue but their overall positions on a broad band of issues.

It is a wait and see who says what at this point, That is why we have a campaign otherwise we would just announce who was running one day and vote on them the next like we did in grade school for class president.

21. It is telling that CNN is using a very good picture of her on their site
It just reinforces my belief that Sen Clinton cannot win and there is nothing the Republicans would like better than for her to be our nominee.
