Canadian spy coins never existed
Canadian spy coins never existed

By Ted Bridis

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Reversing itself, the Defense Department says an espionage report it produced that warned about Canadian coins with tiny radio-frequency transmitters was not true.

The Defense Security Service said it never could substantiate its own published claims about the mysterious coins. It has begun an internal review to determine how the false information was included in a 29-page report about espionage concerns.

The service had contended since late June that such coins were found planted on U.S. contractors with classified security clearances on at least three separate occasions between October 2005 and January 2006 as the contractors traveled through Canada.

"The allegations, however, were found later to be unsubstantiated following an investigation into the matter," the agency said in a statement published on its Web site last week.

1. Fear Uncertainty & Doubt? Or "we're gonna try this ourselves"....
...So we'll say they don't exist after all.

2. USA 2007: Where official DOD security reports are as valid as grade-school urban legends.
This whole thing is just so utterly infuriating.

THE COINS NEVER EXISTED!!!!!!!!

How many interleaved, cross-referenced layers
of multijurisdictional INCOMPETENCE does it take
for a goddamn kiddie-rumor like this to make it
into an official Defense Security Services report?

We all know about FEMA; how it was packed with do-nothing
B*sh-cronies who had no idea how to do the jobs they were
being paid for...

Well, looks like FEMA is not alone.

When a frickin' RUMOR about anonymous "contractors" finding
imaginary "spy coins" in their pockets makes it all the
way up the chain to inclusion in a goddamn DSS report...
it's OVER. It's just OVER.(the DSS, that is)

Clearly, the DSS is broken so badly that it cannot be repaired.

Or, perhaps I should say that REPAIRING it would simply take
more time and money than burning it to the ground and rebuilding
it from scratch.
