"No one is able to save this country."
"The PTB will kill him...or her. Wake up."

Quote from my 73 year old Mom. Thoughts? Is it really unimaginable that anyone who tries to roll back the fascism will be snuffed out? I didn't know what to say.

4. She's talking about the next President?
Who she's assuming will be a Democrat? Intersting. I think if we are able to get to the point where we have fair elections in 2008 and a Dem wins, we will have gone a long way in rolling back fascism. However it will be very important to be ever vigilant, because the fascists will not all go away--they will merely hide in the shadows until they can creep out again.

If the House and Senate are able to thoroughly investigate everyone and those investigated are prosecuted, that will also be helpful.

7. Yes, we were talking about Dem Presidential candidates
She longs for the near-idyllic '50's. At least it was idyllic for her and my Dad.

13. Ah yes, the 50s
I was a child then. One of my friends contracted polio and was confined to a wheelchair. My mother did the same job as men but for less money because of her gender. My black friends faced segregation and Jim Crow laws if they moved South. (I was lucky in that my neighborhood school was integrated)

15. IMHO
We won't have another "real" terrorist attack until all of the most powerful Dem leaders are in charge at which point we can probably kiss DC goodbye, then the official "shadow goverment" is supposed to kick in...

Since the neo-cons set that up and appointed it's members; do you not suppose that the 'members' in the shadows might very well all be neo-cons?

I'd worry more about who might Push The Button and Ptahhotep's Counter-strike.

Or, is it the Brazilian Labour Party?

Guess it depends on her attitude toward radiation poisoning and spicy food. :silly: :nuke:

11. No, no, no, they won't kill them
You bring them into the system. Which I guess could be killing, in a way.

Today women and blacks can be the CEO of a corporation. They can be your representatives in Congress. Instead of changing the way the world works, they're brought into the existing way of doing things, and since you can't change the system from the inside, no more threat. You don't have to "kill" anyone, because there is no other way. Any way of doing, seeing, and being differently were killed off a long time ago.
