Leahy on Gonzales HOLY SHIT! - CSPAN II
He just ripped him a new one - re: the canadian who was rendered to Syria, then tortured.

Gonzales has one week to brief him, or watch out.

wow. Gonzales was stuttering at the end, fearful of being exposed as a liar, a torturer and worse.

2. Leahy broke his foot off in Gonzo's ass......
I had a glass of wine last night to relieve my outrage overload.....

Listening to Gonzo again this morning, the outrage overload is back.

it was beautiful!

"I give you one week! One week, Mr Gonzales. If I don't get the answer from you, we WILL be holding more hearings on this subject."

14. it is only quaint when its protections apply to others. Not when he hides
behind it, like executive privilege, etc.

17. I think it was the Geneva Convention he called "quaint"..
But I don't doubt that he feels the same way about the Constitution (except for the 2nd Amemdment of course, that one is always important:sarcasm: )

18. I believe that's right. BUSH said it was just a piece of paper.
But I thought Gonzales also said something rude and crude about the constitution. That moldy paper he swore an oath to uphold a long time ago.

21. Thanks, you're right.
Wonder if Torture-Boy has ever even stopped to really think about what torture does, not only to the victim, but to the soul of a nation. These Neo-Cons must think Germany of the 1930's and early 40's was a groovy place to be. Yet, sixty+ years later, that country's psyche is still branded with shame.

12. oh leahy has been pissed
it is time when these Senators and Reps that we voted for think about this country and the people and not their political aspirations.

9. Gonzales tried every trick in the book...
Including my favorite Republican-on-the-spot line; "I don't have that information right now, but I'll get it to you next week". Then Leahy said "I'll make a deal with you; you get me that information by next week, or we hold another hearing on this". GO LEAHY!

11. The next questioner is new: Sen. Whitehouse, former attorney general.
His questions are full of beneath-the-surface digs at Gonzo's "bob & weave" tactics. It's great!

13. currently: pro bono issue - raised by Leahy, attacking the DOD attorney
who threatened those firms donating time to Gitmo involuntary residents.

Gonzo is pretty quiet on the issue.

Now, on to Immigration reform.

22. Could someone kindly provide these links...
I go to C Span and C Span II and can never find the links people are talking about. Could someone please tell me:

Is there a link to yesterday's hearing? I saw the second half but missed the entire first half, which was the really good part.

I guess the session is over for today. Will it be up later for those who missed it? Thanks in advance.
