Can Pelosi Lose Re-election?
Okay, so Pelosi was already to the right of many of her constituents in the past. If she does not take a STRONG stand on Iraq, is there a chance she could lose her seat in 08? The mayor's office ALMOST went Green in the last election....

2. She has about as much chance of losing to the Green
as Hillary did of losing to Jonathan Tasini last year in the Senate primary.

4. I think she's doing great
She is a bit weak on Iraq, but it doesn't matter. There are plenty of prominent Dems who are taking a strong, public stand against the war. The wheels are turning regardless of what Pelosi said on one talk show.

9. It doesn't matter?!? I've got two words for you...

CINDY SHEEHAN.

If it weren't for her, there wouldn't even be a Democratic-controlled Congress.

12. You are both overreacting.
I said it doesn't matter than one Dem said something we don't agree with on a TV show. The Democratic party is against any escalation.

Of course it fucking matters that we get out of Iraq. Geez louise people, get a grip!

14. It doesn't matter if the Democratic Party is against the escalation if the Democratic Congress...
...votes to fund the damn thing even though the purse strings are now in their hands.

We voted for change. And we're gonna get that change. And if we don't get it, political careers are gonna be over before they even began.

5. Can't see it for a minute.
Heck folks didn't turn on Willy Brown as Mayor, and at times his policies were to the right of much of his constituents (thinking poverty and homelessness issues.) I am pretty confident, that despite many folks dissillusionment with Brown, that were there no term limits, he would have continued to be reelected for many more terms.

I no longer live in the area - but i can not imagine the scenario you suggest.

6. The momentum and the good publicity, and the accomplishments
she's helped to shepherd through there are all on her side. So far, she's making a lot of the correct moves. And as the momentum against the war grows, I suspect she'll be open to putting IMPEACHMENT BACK on the table. Where it belongs. I think it's going to become unavoidable, propelled by insistant and ever louder and larger public opinion.

16. God, not this again.
The return of the meme that won't die: anyone who isn't saying exactly what you want to hear about the war might as well be drinking the blood of Iraqi children. Sheesh...

18. She still seems very aware of being beholden to the voters.
I think the more we lean on her, the more we'll like the results. Hey, you have to admit it's LIGHTYEARS better than having to suffer dennis hastert for two years more.

10. Not a chance
She's safe. Plus, she's pushing global warming legislation which is very important to SF Bay Area voters.

13. I love her
on national issues. I don't care for her on international issues. I dont like her Israel/Palestine position, but I realize most electe dofficials share her view, her N Korea position is too hawkish, and I am begginning to hate her on Iraq. She also supports the embargo on Cuba....

15. She needs to do something or step aside.
All this legislation stuff is great if you're not currently in a constitutional crisis. Problem is we are in one and play around long enough and we will lose our freedom (technically we already have).
