Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss) on C-span, talking about sacrifice.
"I'd like to see the Bush twins over there".

Take that chimp.

1. That's my Blue Dog Barking
Gene's a Coast Guard Vet, got a lifesaving Medal. Manned a bulldozer two days after Katrina. Crossed Swords with the Insurance Companies. Pisses off republicans in the south on a regular basis (he doesn't hate intensely enough for them.) Go ahead bush, fuck with my rep.

4. You forgot to mention he's pleasing to the eye
He's a good man. He'll probably be taking Trent Lott's spot, if Lott ever gives up the throne.

6. I don't know if Gene could win a statewide race
It would be a good one but the gop would unleash their hounds of hate and hell from all parts of the state. I believe michael savage and ann coulter are way too liberal to our fellow Mississipians who live way up north. I'd like for Gene to stay where he is, build up seniority and keep on barking for us.

8. I like that he's very visible
You see him everywhere amongst the constituents. I heard him speak at the 12 Mile South rally a week before Katrina. It was the first I'd seen him and it impressed me how he mixed well with people.

10. He was at a barbecue at Stennis
last summer, just one of the guys. No pretensions, no airs, no stuffed shirt. He can chat intelligently about damn near anything you want to talk about, and ain't shy about sharing an opinion. Doesn't sound like a politician huh! If he doesn't run for governor I hope he keep his current job. Thad Cochran's seat most likely will be open come 08.

5. I'm loving Rep. Taylor...
he can be counted on for some fantastic soundbites, great at skewering hypocrisy.

7. I was very impressed with him...
