Bush: "Well, actually - I will sound defensive - but some of my decisions actually have worked"

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/white_house/jan-june07/bush_01-16.html

<snip>

MR. LEHRER: But to be very direct about it, Mr. President, you had a few years here and you've been in charge. And you've made a lot of decisions; you've made a lot of judgments about things and they haven't worked. And so now you've made a new one. So why should anybody expect the new ones to work when the prior ones did not?

PRESIDENT BUSH: Well, actually - I will sound defensive - but some of my decisions actually have worked, like getting rid of Saddam Hussein and helping the Iraqi government form a unity government that is based on a novel constitution for the Middle East. As a matter of fact, in 2005, I thought - I mean, in 2006, I thought I'd be in a position to remove troops from Iraq, in other words, hand over more of the authorities to the Iraqis so they could take the fight, and then this sectarian violence that you described broke out. And the question is, do we try to stop it? Do we help the Iraqis stop it? And a year ago, I felt pretty good about the situation; I felt like we were achieving our objective, which is a country that can govern, sustain, and defend itself. No question, 2006 was a lousy year for Iraq. And so the question I'm now faced with is do I react to that or do we just begin to leave, which is - some people - decent people on Capitol Hill think we ought to do. I made the decision, let's succeed; let's work for success not work for failure.

1. "based on a novel constitution for the Middle East"
Oy.

The level of ignorant arrogance in that is staggering.

3. "unity government" !?! WTF!
The pretense that Iraq has anything that would be called a "government" anywhere else in the world. I mean, who believes this except the american media? Does anybody but me think Maliki has a life expectancy of more than minutes if you took away his US bodyguard?

These idiots have been living in the echo chamber for so long that they wouldnt' know the truth from a ham sandwich.

2. Not one thing has "worked" Georgie!
If anything that you've done in Iraq had WORKED, it would be your vision of a flourishing DEMOCRACY by now, not a failed nation embroiled in Civil War.

You are a stupid, delusional fuck, George.

4. Getting rid of Saddam was only important if he posed a threat
to the U.S., you know, nukes and all. Then bushie indicates that things were going quite well in 2005 - - U.S. death toll was pretty heavy that year if I'm not mistaken and the Iraqis were being slaughtered. History is being rewritten as we type.

Wonder if the Lehrer interview will be repeated?

5. Some of them actually worked! ?
"- but some of my decisions actually have worked"

Hundreds of thousands of people are dead. More will die tomorrow, all for a lie. What has worked? He doesn't want a victory, he just wants war. How better to steal people blind, then to create chaos?
