*in my loudest megaphone voice* HEY YOU GUYS LISTEN!!
If you do nothing else on the computer today, listen to Dr. King's speech on Vietnam. All of it. Let it sink in. Realize that nothing has changed. You must hear his message and understand it. Many of his sermons will be quoted today, but the MSM won't dare quote this one. They never do. There's a reason for that.

Please, please listen to this.

19. I noticed this during coverage of CSK's death & funeral
It seemed as though the media has rewritten who & what King was.

8. Thanks for being so insistent.
I might have skipped over this.

I listened from beginning to end. I'm old enough to be ashamed I've never heard this. I don't know nearly what I should about Martin Luther King. What a hero for Mankind.

I'm going to make it a point to learn more about this man.

9. You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of
There's a reason this speech has been forgotten by the mainstream. I only learned about it in grad school. King began speaking out in favor of human rights and economic justice for all people. He connected the dots. That's when he was silenced.

Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 03:08 PM by sammythecat
It' called "War is a Racket", started by "cool user name".

It fits in perfectly with MLK's speech. MLK speaks of the evil of war and Gen. Butler speaks of where the evil comes from.

The words of both are every bit as relevant today as they were in 1970 and 1935. I urge everyone to check out that post. At least read the OP which contains some words from Butler's book. It's not something you've never heard before, but the clarity and authority (Marine general, 2 Congressional Medals of Honor) of the author give the words real impact. It'll only take a couple minutes to check it out.

That audio link is Real Audio, mine is mp3, if anyone has a preference.

Up to the point you posted the link to the text, this was the best I had found--perhaps a predecessor, I'm thinking?
