O' Reilly's Agent whining to NBC's Zucker to Back Off
 :nopity:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/14/AR2007011401124.html

<snip>

"I certainly took offense when he said there were no conservatives at the network, we were all liberal stooges and Marxist sympathizers," Scarborough says. The "final straw," he says, was when O'Reilly criticized Richard Engel, NBC's Middle East bureau chief, for "suggesting the obvious" -- that the rushed hanging of Saddam Hussein had been "a PR disaster." (President Bush told NBC's Brian Williams last week that the execution video ranked just below Abu Ghraib in terms of the war's mistakes.)

O'Reilly declined to be interviewed for this column, but Fox News spokeswoman Irena Briganti says he "has exposed media bias for the last 10 years. This is nothing new. We don't know why NBC finds the label 'liberal' so insulting."

Scarborough says O'Reilly is being driven by animosity toward Keith Olbermann, whose MSNBC show "Countdown" has been gaining in the ratings. "He's allowed his anger toward Keith Olbermann to damage his credibility," Scarborough says.

Olbermann, who faces off with O'Reilly at 8 p.m., has been denouncing his rival for years. He positions his program as an increasingly liberal alternative to the "O'Reilly Factor" and frequently bestows on "Bill-O" his "Worst Person in the World" award. "Countdown" was up 60 percent in the fourth quarter over a year earlier, to 656,000 viewers. But "Factor," despite a 21 percent decline during the same period, still dwarfs the competition with 2.049 million viewers.

Several times over the last year, according to three sources who asked not to be identified because they were describing private conversations, O'Reilly's agent called Jeff Zucker, chief executive of NBC's television group, urging him to tell his MSNBC commentators to back off. O'Reilly also posted an online petition demanding that NBC dump Olbermann.

1. Isn't Bill-O just like the bully at the playground?
Full of bravado until someone stands up to him ---then he goes running home to his mommy for help. In Bill-O's case mommy is his agent.

2. One of the very few things I turn my TV on for
is Keith Olbermann. Very, very few things on TV are worth watching anymore. Is it me developing more adult taste, or have networks lost the ability to tell the difference between interesting and boring?

5. The lack of oxygen up on their Ivory Tower has begun to cause some...
brain damage.

It's the only explanation.

4. "still dwarfs the competition with 2.049 million viewers"
HA! Yeah, right... If you count abandoned airport lounges, empty hotel workout rooms, and
WAL-MART electronics displays as... Viewers.

I guarantee each of Olbermann's 656,000 viewers are actual real-live motivated human beings.

I'm so sick of this horse crap.

9. I noticed that too.
I was at the airport last week and every TV was on fox. When I was at a complex that houses various doctors, every TV was on fox. Went to Outback for dinner and 7 over head TV's were on fox. I think these are false ratings and someone is being paid to tune unwatched TV's to fox.

6. "We don't know why NBC finds the label 'liberal' so insulting"
Why can't the FAUX 'News' people just admit that they're a conservative network? They claim they're 'balanced' until they're blue in the face, but I have yet to find an instance where they refer to themselves as 'conservative'.

Do they find that term insulting?

7. It feeds into the illusion created for their viewers
Remember, Fox News viewers are not part of the reality-based community... so, their claim of being fair & balanced is to appeal to their 'base' of viewers. Then, anything that portrays Republics more negatively than Fox can be ranted about as the liberal bias of the other network.

By the way, even the Scaife-funded Right Wing "media watchdog" group the Media Research Center says that Fox is biased. They found slight biases towards Kerry in 2004 in all the other broadcast networks, but even they admitted that Fox was biased gainst Kerry by like a 6-1 margin. (And, if a far rightie org like the MRC says that other networks were slightly biased towards Kerry...)

8. Bill O'Whiny: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
More whining from Bill O'Whiny: His critics "won't debate him on the Factor" only because Bill doesn't have the cojones to invite them on. He's a small, insignificant insect with a big megaphone and a (gradually) dwindling audience. Like a housefly that buzzes around desperately seeking some shit to land on, one day O'Whiny will just be another dead exoskeleton in the windowsill. (Note to O'Whiny toadies who come across this post: that's figurative language, not a threat to your almighty whiner)

11. Scarborough thinks Billdo has any "credibility" to damage? That's a hoot.
Perhaps Joe's a subscriber to the nonexistent "Paris Business Review" that Billdo claimed showed that his "boycott" on French products was hurting France. LOL. And what about all the other bs claims and "facts" Billdo pulls out of his butt, Joe? No credibility issues there?

Billdo's not a conservative. He's an opportunist. A shill. A barker at the Faux house of distortion and disinformation.

Billdo got Faux to sue Franken in a case that literally was laughed out of court. Then he got Faux to sue his former employee but that bit 'em on the butt and they scrambled to settle (for millions) when the pretrial court filings were released and speculation was that the employee had audio tapes of falafel boy's naughty phone calls. I guess this time Faux won't sue NBC/MSNBC/GE so Billdo's reduced to having his agent call Zucker and whine.
