Surprised nobody here has mentioned the Media Reform Conference.

There is a great event happening this weekend in Tennessee, the Media Reform Conference, with some great panels and speeches about how the left can take back the mainstream media. The friday speech by Bill Moyers was the most stunning thing I have ever seen. They have most of it in free audio and video. You guys care about the media or about its reform should check it out. Great Laura Flanders show yesterday from it.

1. Hell, I don't really care if we ever take it back........

of course that would be to say that we ever had it in the first place, but I'd settle for a level, honest playing field. Not a left leaning Press or a right leaning Press but a good old non-partisan Press that told the people of this country what's REALLY going on. The right-wing controls every aspect of the media in this country so hoping for a left-wing leaning Press is unrealistic. I just wish they'd do their damned jobs without any bias whatsoever. Just the truth. Some good old fashioned investigative journalism with nothing but the facts so we, the people, could make up our own minds about what's going on in the world.

I'd settle for that in a heartbeat.

6. I wouldn't shy away from what you said. Media should be open and left

leaning. Media has to listen and speak for those who haven't the means to investigate, sift through the spin, and understand the cunning methods of greedy corporate pressure. Only the left could push past the pompous stilted rules and lies thrown up to obscure the truth.

A rightly leaning press reports what is up front. To delve into a murky corrupt machine you must accept that their is no definitive law of right or wrong written in one book, no matter how "good". That the best solution needs all the information you can gather. The left can see that mistakes are sometimes forgivable but misleading the public for your own profit is not.

The Press in a true Democracy must be open, and expose it's workings to it's people. They need it to govern.
