CNN anchor John Roberts blows his cover....
Just now on CNN's "This Week at War," host John Roberts was discussing the Republicans who are breaking ranks with Bush over the war. At around 1:18 ET, he brought out one of his field reporters and said something to her like "We have lost Hagel and several other prominent Republicans who have now come out against the war..."

"We have lost...?" "We?"

I guess they aren't even trying to hide their bias any more. I wish I had recorded that.

Are they being paid to take the side of war?

26. That's Jeannie Beker (sp?)
she was his New Music co-host. Now writes a column for the Globe & Mail. She's a bit of an empty-headed dumbbell - in other words, just as qualified as Roberts to be a CNN anchor.

The irony of them using Rush's "2112 Overture" as the into music escaped me at the time... I think they upgraded to Animotion at some point...

7. According to the transcript from CNN
ROBERTS: Suzanne Malveaux, not only did he lose Chuck Hagel. He also lost Senator Susan Collins, Senator Sam Brownback, Gordon Smith, even Jeff Sessions, who's a real supporter of the president, is pretty lukewarm on all of this. The president's got to be feeling pretty lonely right now.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0701/13/tww.01.html

I don't know if they changed it. I'm not quite sure if this is the passage that you were referencing too. But that is all I could find.

15. I heard him say "we have lost..." Hopefully it will be rerun. it could have been "He" but that...
..would not fit with what I heard. If he were referring to Bush he would have started by saying "Bush has lost...." instead of starting with "he" with no reference as to who he is.

Hopefully they will rerun it but I am sure that I heard it correctly.

35. Actually that was a rerun, because I saw the exchange last week.
You heard correctly. I heard it also and noticed the 'we' -- ding ding ding!!!

I couldn't believe it. I heard it last Wednesday or Thursday, right after they had announced their positions to
break with bush. Maybe there'll be more replays since it's a long weekend (barring any huge breaking news).

39. I heard that segment and thought he said *he*
Not to be argumentative and I most certainly could have heard him wrong, but I thought he said "he" as it states in the transcript.

27. CNN's been caught before changing transcripts
I remember one time before the 2000 election, on Crossfire, Larry Flynt was on telling Novak about Bush getting a girl an abortion before they were legal. There was a fiery exchange between the two of them.

Later that night, the whole exchange was omitted from the transcript.

That was why I posted the transcript to the OP. They have been known to that before, why not again.

Someone must have it tivo'd or taped. We will get to the bottom of it.

28. CNN did it when Larry King had Bill Maher on in November. Bill Maher outted Ken Mehlman
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 03:42 PM by OmmmSweetOmmm
and not only did they take that part out of their transcript, they edited out the segment in the re-airing of the show.

Also recently, I remember something about Andrea Mitchell being deleted from the original transcript on MSNBC as well. Something to do with the Scooter Libby trial?

9. Oh yeah I detected his bias a couple weeks ago
when he was sitting in for Miles one morning. It is pretty obvious.

So I stopped watching CNN in the morning. Is Miles coming back? Or has John replaced him?

10. This seems to be happening a lot.
Last week-it was on msnbc, I think-when they had that skinny blonde reporter/author (can't quite remember her name...strange) on to push her latest book and criticize all the people she doesn't respect.

More than once with her "we-s" and "they-s" she betrayed her real bias. As usual, the head cusser-Matthews' I think-showed his lack of perspicacity and ability to think and listen by passing it right by.

out, doesn't it?

The networks 'worked hard' to position the right people over the years.

There are plenty of good examples in the documentary film that is being shown on link and fstv - I didn't hear it all - but it is well worth the time - about FCC and the radio ownership takeover. I'm going to look for it again to watch the entire program - good info about what happened to Donahue - and how blatant they were about getting him off MSNBC.

37. Roberts has been very partisan. His bias against Dem's is obvious
and blatantly unfair a lot of times. I have written CNN several times about his attitude. CNN is a apparently aiming for the Fox Wannabee position and Roberts fits right in with their goal.
