To the U.S. Supreme Court majority
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 06:40 PM by LiberalEsto
Dear Justices Scalia, Thomas, Kennedy, (the late) Rehnquist, and (retired) O'Connor:

The impending Constitutional crisis, the confrontation between Congress and the so-called president, and the escalation of the war in Iraq, are your fault. YOU were the enablers who in 2000 permitted this incompetent imbecile to illegally occupy the office of the president of the United States. *

YOU chose to stop the legitimate recount of votes in Florida and make a mockery of our democracy. YOU trod on the will of the American voting public and chose to disregard the popular vote. You allowed a gang of thuggish brownshirts to halt recount proceedings by pushing, shouting and shoving, an organized riot that clearly violated America's laws.

YOU have in effect allowed suspension the rule of law, the guiding principle of our democracy.

YOU installed a dictator who disregards not only the will of the American people, but of Congress, as well as the opinion of the world's civilized nations. The blood of more than 3,000 American soldiers is on your hands. The tens of thousands of our soldiers wounded, maimed or psychologically damaged are also your responsibility. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, including civilians, women and children, have also died as the result of your infamous act.

YOU have further enabled this so-called president to set up secret prisons where people are held for years without being charged (because this so-called president does not respect the Constitutional right of habeas corpus) and in cases gruesomely tortured and killed.

YOU allowed him to spy on the American people, opening their mail, reading their e-mails, probing their personal data, sending police into their homes without warrants, and otherwise violating our basic right to privacy.

YOU allowed him to knowingly provide false and misleading data on weapons of mass destruction to Congress to obtain its permission for the Iraq War.

YOU allowed him to squander billions of taxpayer dollars on this illegal war and on no-bid contracts for the so-called vice-president's company and cronies. You have allowed him to send our young fighters into battle with inadequate body armor and helmets, inadequate weapons and vehicles, and rotten food provided by war profiteering contractors.

IF you have the slightest remaining shreds of respect for America's Constitution, you should act to reverse Gore vs Bush, and permit the removal of this would-be dictator from the post he has occupied for almost six years.

I suggest to those of you still on the U.S. Supreme Court that, if you fail to act, you will ultimately face impeachment yourselves in order for Americans to restore the rule of Constitutional law in nation.

2. Thanks!
I just found that someone actually started a petition to impeach the 5 justices a few years ago.

Here's a link:
