Bush promises to VETO Medicare reform bill re: lower drug prices
WASHINGTON - President Bush promised on Thursday to veto Democratic-drafted legislation requiring the government to negotiate with drug companies for lower prices under Medicare.

The House is to debate and vote Friday on the bill, which is one of a handful of priority items for Democrats who gained control of Congress in last fall's elections.

Keep that veto ink flowing, you monkey. Let all the lines be clearly drawn for the American people.

1. The evil bastard
may have picked the wrong bill to veto. I don't think he has the juice on this one. Everyone knows what a disaster the rules in place now are and they've had some time to experience the doughnut hole themselves. They've been exposed as pharmacare shills. Let the bastard veto it and I think he will experience his first override.

6. Hopefully he picked the wrong bill.
Even Republicans have been hard hit. My step father, were he alive still, would be fuming at Bush over this statement. He chose the wrong part D for his medicare and was told that for a single prescription that he owed... $5,400, give or take 20 bucks. This was for an antibiotic because of a foot infection. He didn't have the cash available to get his drugs right out of the hospital. Then again, before he passed on he chose to vote libertarian rather than vote loyal Republican for the first time since Nixon. Bush pushes too much and he'll destroy his party for more than 8 years.

7. The medicare fiasco alone
is enough to kill this. I'm sorry about your stepfather and I understand the frustration. My own mother is 86 and she just had a very rude awakening to this doughnut hole. At her age and on a fixed income it is almost like a death sentence.

11. He doesn't care about how many of his party are hurt. He
is purely ego-driven. He's so narcissistic, he only cares about himself and maybe Barney and Laura (in that order) a little bit.

3. For cripe's sake......
It's like the right wing take on global warming. Can't possibly spare the earth because of corporate profits. Can't possibly help people live better lives because of big pharma profits.

He can't really believe that the pharma companies will go out of business or stop doing research if they have to sell their drugs at a fair price.

I wonder what the GOP congress people and Senators think of this? They must not be too happy.

9. I was reading earlier this week that pharma
spends five times as much on advertising as they do on research. I have no sympathy for them. It is not only the nauseating viagra and herpes ads on TV it is also the direct marketing to physicians. They've brought this on themselves.

5. Idiot. Big stinky idiot.
Stupidest president ever. But from a purely political tactical point of view, forcing every Republican to vote again yea or nay on Mr. Stinky's veto will improve our chances of drastically increasing our share of both houses.

Keep that legislation flowing right to Stinky's desk.

12. Congress, pass the bill and let the Chimp veto it. That INK will be on HIM
and hopefully will take out more Repugs in future elections until they are all cleared out.

Chimp hates the voters. He proves it every step he takes.

13. Naked greed exposed.
Again. Will the 30% who support him ever change their mind? When 25% believe Jesus is coming in 2007, probably not.

14. He's completely lost it. He will destroy his party because
his diseased mind refuses to accept anything he views as a a "defeat". Doesn't matter to Bush what's best for the country, it's all about "ME, ME, ME!!!!"
