Impeachment 'off the table'?

I had the strangest vision last night as Kieth talked about the republiCons abandoning the boy king. With his approval numbers as low as they are and not likely to go up, two things occurred to me.

First, our military leaders ( the ones bush fired) said that this surge is likely only to result in more American casualties, and no stabilization of the current civil war in Iraq.

Second, and this is the scary part. Our Idiot in Chief made some serious challenges to Iran, with two carrier battle groups in the gulf. And I have yet to read anything in the media about the Sunburn anti-ship missiles Iran has, or the destruction they can wreak. One of them can sink a carrier. Just imagine the casualties from that. What, 5000 sailors on a carrier? More than the number of casualties so far in Iraq. Even worse, I believe that this will give Bush the excuse he's wanted to nuke Tehran.

I'll leave it to you what will happen if either or both of the above occur.

In my opinion, the likely results will be that we will see resolutions of impeachment. And they will come not from the Dems, but from the other side of the isle as the Republicons kick him to the side in the hopes of retaining at least SOME seats in the 08 election.

That's my opinion. What do you think?

10. Exactly
I'll go a bit further. Impeachment and removal of Bush and Cheney aren't enough.

Say enough Repugs come over that we could throw them out of office because of lies that got us into Iraq. We still need to have investigations about torture, violations of the Bill of Rights, and war profiteering. There are probably many more issues to investigate. If we don't tackle those issues as well as get rid of Bush/Cheney, we haven't done the job right.

3. Oh, it's coming. Look at how many people have changed their positions for it...
...in just the last 24 hours. It may be the only way to put the brakes on this madman and his out of control administration, and people of all stripes are seriously considering it.

4. Let's hope impeachment comes quickly.
Because the first thing that will happen if the US nukes Iran is an environmental catastrophe; not from Iran's nukes, but from US nukes and the oil that will get spilled in the process. Iran will simply blow up tankers and oil fields.

Second thing that will happen is that troops in the middle east will be in danger, and there isn't any cavalry left to get them out.

And then, of course, there's the certainty of nuclear retaliation.

The man should be carted off in a straightjacket with his cronies, including wolfowitz.

5. Pigs Will Fly...
Before the repubs ever introduce, or perhaps support, articles of impeachment.

I'll believe it when I see it. But things could get bad enough that it's a possibility Democrats will give it a go, but repubs will go down with the ship. Which come to think of it, isn't such a bad thing.

6. I guess this puts us in the regrettable position of hoping
that a wacked-out Iranian strongman and Islamic fundamentalist zealot has more restraint and rationality than our Beloved Leader.

11. Sen. Biden warned Dr. Rice in the Senate hearing today
After Sen Webb read part of the "War Powers Resolution Act" He asked if the Executive Branch took it to mean that they had carte blanche to wage preemptive war where and when they decided... I didn't catch Dr. Rice's convoluted answer... but, then Biden said "let me make this clear! You do NOT have the authority to go into Iran without the approval of Congress! If you try, it will trigger a Constitutional confrontation in the Senate! AND I WILL LEAD IT!"

So.....hmmm
