This is the only way there can be a military victory for the US in Iraq.

We would have to pick a side in the civil war and use what other country in the area that supports that side as an ally and militarily defeat the other side. Set up a government run by the side we supported and stay there to defend it in perpetuity. We would have to widen the war and declare war on what ever country supported the side we are fighting against. That would mean we would need a draft to increase the forcesto the level needed for that war. Possibly it would evolve into a nuclear conflict and spiral out of control. That would not be a win in my book.

This whole thing smells suspiciously like Cheney's 80% Solution ...IOW the Shiia comprise 80% of the population, so let's side with them to wipe out the 20% (Sunni)....that EXACTLY what is happening....
