troops reaction to Bush: incredible hostility (NPR piece)
NPR reporter visits military community in Washington State, gets reaction to the McCain Doctrine.

I have to admit, I was surprised by this. From my experience with NPR, if they could have found any positive reaction, they would have reported it. I believe the reporter when he says "consensus."

1. I'd like the following to be part of the conversation
thinking about this despicable speech this morning, I wrote down the following:

"Bush is now seeking to pass blame for refusing to stay the course to the other party, this coming from a President who refused to set the course, initially- and all this will be accomplished by further trifling with the lives of our servicemen and women."

Doesn't this really capture how disgustingly low he stoops this time?

Chimpy McCodpiece is a coward! He's a coward physically and emotionally. He's even incapable of taking responsibility for his own cowardice. His entire life has been one of cowardice - living off other people's money and hiding behind other people's loss of life and limb.

He's a political necrophiliac - benefiting from the death and suffering of others. His idea of being a 'Christian' is obviously having others die for his sins. He's beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst psychopath ever to reach national office - worse than McCarthy, worse than Nixon, worse than anyone with the possible exception of Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Gonzales, and others in his corrupt cabal of courtiers and enablers.

and women in the service- who receive more lip service support than anything or anyone else in this country are being done this way. As if it isn't bad enough that the Bush administration brazenly cashed in with conflict of interest after conflict of interest to cheapen and undermine our troops position in Iraq, Bush is now revealing the incredible depths of his lack of respect for people who have signed on to defend our country.

You know what he might as well say? C'mon W, you cycnical bastard. Why don't you just come out and say, "Line 'em up. Of course I would gladly shoot an American soldier in the head for extra votes! How many do I get for each of 'em?"

Bush talks the most about the honor and respect due our armed forces, but actually cares the least. And meanwhile, folks from our neighborhoods are dying because it's politically expedient for him. Disgusting.

3. No kidding - NPR goes out of its way to find support for Bush.
I imagine the WH will get their usual kool-aid drinkers to NPR and force them to cover them for faux balance.

4. How great would it be if our soldiers just
decided they wouldn't follow anymore illegal orders? Some of them have to remember their pledges to protect and defend the constitution.

5. What's this? An NPR piece without the sound of bacon frying in the beginning?
