By Associated PressFEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) - The Federal Way School Board has put the brakes on schools showing former Vice President Al Gore's global warming movie, "An Inconvenient Truth."

In a vote last night, the board decided to require that an opposing view be presented in order for teachers to present the film.

The board voted 3 to 0, with two members absent.

Board president Ed Barney said he had received about a half-dozen complaints from parents that their child was taking the film as fact after viewing it at school.

1. And the opposing view would be ann coulter yelling and screaming?
Why not put the challenge back on the parents? Feel your have an opposing view? Ok, let's hear it. Back it up with facts. Show us a presentation that you would give the kids. Go ahead.

4. So if I made a movie showing the earth was round...
Would they have to watch a movie with an opposing view as well?

Sometimes I think these school board members are lacking the education they have been elected provide to others...

10. SIX complaints got this film banned.
some other numbers...

about a THOUSAND peer-reviewed science studies show that human increases in CO2/methane are causing the climate to change

ZERO proving the opposite

but SIX uninformed morons let the side with ZERO evidence win

11. There is NO evidence of global warming in the Pacific NW, afterall....
Luckily, kids are often smarter than their parents and teachers. They understand that it isn't normal for salmon to spawn up Highway 99.

Here in Colorado, most kids also intuitively seem to understand that 6 feet of snow in 3 weeks at the lower elevations and hurricane-force wind gusts are also a little abnormal.

18. What opposing view? There is no legitimate
opposing view - only the rantings of those who deny the obvious.

"a half dozen complaints from parents that their child was taking the film as fact."

Gore's film is based on science - something these morons clearly cannot comprehend or are terrified of. The board president ought to stand his ground, invite all parents to a special screening, and then ask them exactly what "fact" they are objecting to.

I guess it's ok to tell kids Santa Claus is delivering presents Christmas Eve, but when it comes to the glaciers melting, well they just can't believe their own friggen eyes. Amazing.
