Our economy would fall apart, killing and ruining millions of average guys.

We have to, unfortunately, have oil. Until we, the people, start demanding something BESIDES oil to run our cars, make our plastics, etc., we will NOT get out of the Middle East.

In other words, we should have listened to Pres. Carter in 1978 instead of voting him out of office two years later.

Grudges are hard to overcome. For example, we won't allow the Saudi people to overthrow their monarchy for fear the people would no longer sell us oil. It's a mess.

I agree with you, theorhetically, and wish we could get out, but we can't "now" - I mean out of the entire Middle East, not just Iraq.

and all we have to do is arrange for the long overdue divorce between carmakers and big oil.

After all, most of our imports come from Mexico, Canada, and (if Stupid is thrown out), Venezuela.

responsible for getting us into this thing (Stupid, Cheney, Rice, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Rumsfeld, and all the subordinates we want to get out of government permanently) and pack them off to the world court.

If a stable government hakes out in Iraq any time soon, we need to arrange for building materials to be shipped to them through a third party, very quietly.

That's all we can do to avoid having Americans targeted all over the world.

But yes, pack up, blow up the ammo, and just book ass out of there.
