Report: Arab Allies Fret over Bush Plan

WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Arabic U.S. ally nations are concerned U.S. President George Bush`s forthcoming plan for Iraq could lead to sectarian fighting throughout the Middle East.

Bush is to release his plan Wednesday night in Washington and The Wall Street Journal said such Sunni Muslim allied countries as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates fear Iraq is falling apart amid Shiite-Sunni tensions.

The Saudis and Jordanians have warned they would deploy troops if Sunnis in Iraq appear to be in danger of being run out, the report said.

Even Washington`s regional nemesis, Syria, is sounding alarm bells over the sectarian situation.

'Can you imagine the effect of Iraq breaking apart and each group looking for a regional or international power to support their territorial claims or their ethnic claims?' Imad Moustapha, Syria`s ambassador to Washington, asked the Journal. 'The repercussions will be terrible, not just for Iraq but for all the countries.'

8. I posted about this around 5:30 this morning in a different
thread. bush** is playing a really dangerous game here. This is not our home turf (even though he thinks it should be). Piss everybody off and we're screwn (as the freeps say).
