I believe they are cutting programs to get higher enlistment.
I was thinking, today, about all the freakin'' programs this administration is cutting. I got so mad and then it dawned on me. I know they are cutting to save money and put the riches into those whose pockets most deserve it, but could there be another agenda here? If people can not afford to do things like go to school then will they, perhaps, join the military to try and make ends meet? Maybe they are hoping to break us all and create a warfare society where the welfare society once stood. Could the hidden agenda to cutting the programs be upping the enlistment rate?

4. for what it's worth I read the same theory, of all places, on an ABC board
for one of their primetiome shows - a couple of times actually. This theory must be generating some buzz from somewhere.

10. If everyone is buzzing aout it, how did I miss it?
Gosh, I usually feel I am so on top of these things. Now that I know this theory is out there, I will have to do more investigating. Thanks!

8. Perhaps not intentional, but it happens to work out.
This was happening during Raygun yrs also. No job? Can't afford college? Join the military!

6. It's just their philosophy
They don't believe in government, with or without wars. Don't complicate it.

13. Who said repukes don't believe in big government?
Brush has grown the government and continually adds more cronies to high offices. They want big government, they just want to pretend otherwise so they can call themselves conservatives. It's that simple

19. Military and Corporate Subsidy Government
Not the people's government. Two totally different things. They are Federalists. They believe the Federal Executive should rule supreme and its only purpose is commerce and defense to protect commerce. The Houses of the People, the Congress and Senate, are annoyances. Better to kick any pretense of the people's concerns back to the states to keep the peons from interfering with the real business of big business, the corporate business of the Unitary Executive.

Many of us have been saying for years they would collapse the economy for
the middle and working class just so they ensure bodies for their military ventures.

They are also collapsing the infrastructure of the military so it can be privatized more easily.

11. I would go even further than that.....
I consider these cuts to social programs a deliberate plan for economic genocide. They affect the weakest among us. The poor, elderly, and disabled have no defense against it.

The 3rd Reich considered this a necessary step to "purifying" the race. This administration considers it a "budget balancing" measure. Whatever name you give it, it's killing off the weak.

There are your GOP family values.

12. People already are joining because of that.
No jobs, no money to go to school, the only alternative for some is living on the street.

than I am now. The corruption, torture, cutting of needed programs. Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio? I am so saddened.

15. how does cutting care for the elderly & disabled fit into your idea?
It doesn't. People in these categories are not people that can/will or could enlist.

18. NOPE! That might be a side benefit, but that's not the #1 reason.
Look back into Pub history. One of their prime beliefs is to "starve the beast"!

They've always hated the social programs, and they believe if they put the Fed Gov't very deeply in debt, there will not be any money for any social programs.

They're working on ways to cut those programs, slash by slash. Given enough time, they'll succeed with their plan!

They worked very hard, for almost 40 years to get in a position of power in all three branches of Gov't, and they're finally there!

It's going to be a monumental job to stop them now! I'm not even sure we can!

It's a long time from now to Nov, and we're going to have to fight like hell to hold their insanity from going rampant. If we fail to take control in Nov, I'm afraid it's a lost cause!

20. Wealth Care is booming.

Yes, it is a fact that that the rich get richer as the poor get poorer. It is not a cliché.

Does the Dem majority in the Congress pose any substantial opposition to the Neo Fascist Agenda of turning Amerika into Fuedal Police State? I think not!

23. Certainly not that I've seen!
I wish I could help you more, but I have a Pub in the House and 2 Pub Senators.

I do write to some of the Dems from other States, but as you can imagine, they really don't care much about me, 'cause I can't vote for 'em.

And yes, I've tried to rally some Dems here in Ga., but I gotta tell ya, there's very few of us, and it's colse to impossible to find any Dem who even wants to run for an office, no matter how on the totem pole that office might be!

We're trying to convince Max Clelland to try again, but I just don't know.

21. Sure.
It's a draft for the lower socio-economic class, plain and simple. Take it a step further, and look at the cuts in services to those wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. That's what even Imus is raising hell about mornings on MSNBC. There is little difference between what is happening here today, and what has happened in "kingdoms" over the centuries.
