Make no mistake, the Somali operation was MURDER
The motive? Distract Americans from the quagmire and failure in Iraq by giving them a military "success." Launch a military strike, kill a bunch of Al-Qaeda "terrorists", and everyone cheers! The problem is, who decides that these men are terrorists? A grand jury? Nope. The Bush Administration told us they were terrorists. The same BA that has lied about practically everything else. Chances are, we'll never know how many innocent civilians died during this action also.

This is MURDER. This is the intentional killing of human beings simply for political gain.

24. you know, I have been so reluctant to impeach, but
I sure am there now...there are so many political catch 22s with the aftermath of impeachment, but it begins to feel now like an extreme emergency and that it must be done and done quickly.

2. If not SLAUGHTER. You rip personnel to shreds with such armaments.
To be blown literally to BITS by 50 caliber + bullets is beyond inhumane when we are talking *suspected* terrorists.

IMO, such aerial bombardments should be used only to disable bridges and/or armor and NOT be used on personnel over a wide swath of area consisting of non-combatants, i.e., civilian women and children.

I was honored to serve in the US Army, but I do not support such SENSELESS carnage as the conduct of this heavy handed aerial bombing. I know "collateral damage" happens in every conflict, but that does not make it justified. It's just senseless OVERKILL ... horrific and wrong.

18. Senseless
"Witnesses said 31 civilians, including two newlyweds, died in the assault by two helicopters near Afmadow, a town in an area of forested hills close to the Kenyan border 220 miles southwest of Somalia's capital, Mogadishu."

"Witnesses said at least four civilians were killed Monday evening in Hayi, including a small boy."

3. We launched air strikes against two towns
to maybe get 3 guys and even then they're not sure if they got them.

So mass murder is now okay if it's in the name of going after al Qaeda?

How much longer before Bush wants to launch air strikes on US cities because they might be harboring al Qaeda terrorists?

The Guy and shot him, it's still ILLEGAL.

I really hate these people.

4. It's EASY to spot terrorists from 20,000 ft. up going 400 m.p.h.
They all look alike from that altitude, so it's easy as pie.

6. Yep, all Bush has to do is say they were "suspected terrorists"
It's his license to kill. Blow up a few Africans or Arabs, tell everyone they were terrorists - especially Al Qaeda terrorists - and not only do many Americans support it, they applaud it!

8. The Ethiopian warlords already routed the Islamic Court
The Ethiopians said Somalia was clear last week.

Now we sent an airstrike in hitting targets that are thought to be hiding suspects in the 1988 bombings of 2 U.S. embassies. It is reported that many people were killed in the actions.

No kidding it was out and out murder.

12. We're supposed to believe they "got" the embassy bombers, lol
It is all a lie, they kill civilians and all the places that the CIA-invented "Al Qaeda" also happen to be "strategic" in terms of resources, aka oil, natural gas, metals, etc....

This is why I love DU. I think most Americans are so desensitized, they don't care about much of anything that doesn't directly affect them. 911! 911! 911! Is that how this all began? They LET that happen. It's all bullshit.

And whatever happened to imminent threat. They can't tell me a dozen hijackers are the cause of all of this war Bush has inflicted on the planet.

16. Well, don't forget that they saved us from a herd of dangerous goats.
You may quibble that the goats were only "suspected" of being dangerous, but the CIA/DIA will undoubtedly find convincing evidence that they had plans and maps of vital American interests and posed a major threat to the populace of Des Moines.

20. This is payback...
For everyone he sees as his enemies. He will kill anyone to get at one or two people, if he killed his target will that stop terrorism. When he killed Zarqawi did it stop or get worse...

seems i've heard this argument somewhere before

i'll reserve judgment on this one because i simply haven't informed myself sufficiently on the situation but if it is indeed murder for political gain, there needs to be consequences

i don't expect much tho, considering the stack of impeachable offenses committed by *co seems miles high to me :-(

My dentist, who is also a Jungian psychologist, this a.m. referred to Bush as a "malignant narcissist". Ha. Right on.
