I'm not giving anyone a break just because they have a 'D' before their name.
I expect much of my Democratic leaders, I will not accept every decision they make as just dandy, no one is perfect, but I do expect much of them, and they have much to do.

When Bill Clinton went and did his whole silly thing, I didn't sugar coat it, I was disappointed in the man for not behaving himself, but I still supported him politically 100%. The republiks have historically laid down and rolled over for dubya and dick, marching in lockstep on every issue, but I'm not like that.

I will complain aloud when I see Democratic leaders failing to do their duties, just like I will when republiks fail to do theirs. We elect these people for actual reasons, and we should expect to get at least some of what we voted for, in this case, and end to the masturbatory republik war.

I'll praise them when they deserve praise, and I'll criticize them when they deserve it, I'm an equal opportunity bitcher.

But make no mistake Democratic leaders, I expect much of you. Now is the time for real action against our number one enemy, the neo conazis.

2. joe is the most disgusting of them all in my opinion.
In life, as in politics, I hate phonys, I hate two faced people, and I hate pretenders. I also hate those who promise and then forget.

3. You have very high expectations...
and we've only been in session what all of 3 days?

Garrison Keillor: As the new Congress convenes this week and Speaker Nancy Pelosi ascends to the rostrum, you have to wish them all well. These are the kids who got up in school assembly and spoke on Armistice Day and were captains of teams and organized class projects to do good works, a different breed from us wise guys who lurked in the halls and made fun of them, and in the end you want them and not us running your government. Yes, they had serious brown-nose tendencies and a knack for mouthing pieties, but you could count on them to do what needed doing. They were leaders. They weren't going to swipe the lunch money and buy a keg of suds.

4. Not really.
I don't really expect much to happen, I simply expect much. I'd be happy for just a little.

7. Patience is a virtue.
It takes time to get things done in Washington. You know that, so why don't you wait a bit before reassembling the circular firing squad? The 100 hours has not yet even begun!

Will I give them a chance? Sure. Will I wait long? No.

9. You've waited approximately 5 days, including a weekend.
They've hardly had a chance. I come to DU to get away from the constant MSM slandering of my people, the good people. You'd seem to agree with CNN that this is a "do-nothing Congress." Quit playing the role of V, that's Nancy Pelosi's job now, and we couldn't have asked for a better actress!

The Dem's have waited 12 years to regain their majority! We've all waited 6 years to have a real shot at putting an end to this joke of a Presidency and yet the hysterics on here, even though I understand them all too well, baffle me sometimes in their intransigence and repitition. Will Rogers was right, and that's a real American tragedy.

Because I'm more than happy w/Neil Abercrombie (HI-1).

Your post has too many sandbags and not enough reporting. So I'm not even going to wade into it...

Edit: Out of curiousity why didn't Richard Morrison get the nomination (or run again), he seemed like a good man, and I had a bad feeling about Lampson after the frat like assualt video on Tom Delay's office.

13. they don't have a veto proof majority
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 07:56 AM by bigtree
so, to expect them to solve every issue before us with their votes is expecting too much. They will have to use the leverage of their majority to pressure republicans who want things from them into bending on Iraq. That will take time. It would be nice if we didn't help the republicans tear them down while they're positioning to accomplish these things. Our legislature is a system of compromise, even more so, given their actual numbers. Remember the 2/3 vote needed to overturn a presidential veto. All controversial legislation will be ruled by that reality. It can either be a protest vote which has no chance of becoming law, or they can craft a compromise which begins to address the issues we are concerned about, like beginning to bring some of our soldiers home. In that effort, perfect shouldn't become an enemy of the good.

14. This line:
"But make no mistake Democratic leaders, I expect much of you." sums things up for me as well. Some of my democratic party brethren don't seem to understand that as many times when I've criticized some Dino's, I've been met with criticism. We should expect more and expect them to listen to us as we are their party.

16. Mindless obediance to Republicans got us where we are. Keep the fire lit under their feet!!!
The BEST difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals, for the most part, hold their representatives accountable.
