Final Total for the DU Year-End Charity Donation Drive: $27,525 in financial and in-kind donations.

First of all, I apologize that it has taken me a week to post this thread.

We have the final total of donations made to America's Second Harvest during our Year-end Charity Donation Drive. America's Second Harvest received $24,525 in financial donations plus a $3,000 in-kind contribution of professional services, which brings our total for the two-week charity drive to a whopping $27,525!

Thank you to everyone who donated. And a special thanks to Midlodemocrat, Redstone, and our anonymous donor, who together made $5,000 worth of challenge pledges to encourage other DUers to donate.

Also, the good people at America's Second Harvest wanted me to let you know how much they appreciate your generosity.

Once again, I feel very proud to be a part of this community.

I bet we get an even bigger response next year if you announce that this will be an annual event (and start it earlier!) - many people plan their charitable giving in advance and if they knew that DU had a gig going down, I would expect that this community would/could step up to the donation plate in even greater numbers.

I've been giving to them the past few years, but enjoyed it more this year being part of the DU drive. It was fun and I'm proud to be part of this community that's becoming ever greater.
