Sheehan on Hannity's Sunday night show
If you can find a transcript of this, do so. She started off by saying she didn't regret anything she has said. Then later said she regretted calling Bush a "bastard."

Then, when asked about her comments when she met Chavez, she waffled so much on whether she meant what she said you couldn't even understand what she was talking about.

She said she was going to continue to be an anti-war activist but that she would stop "calling names."

She did stand by calling Bush a terrorist, but then tried to offer what she said was the Army's definition (and got it wrong) and while explaining her reasoning she looked very unsure of herself, judging by her facial expressions and her body language.

The interview ended with her alleging that the US used chemical weapons in Fallujah and when Hannity started to object, she kind of smiled weakly and leaned toward him. It was more strange body language.

It appeared that Hannity wasn't as harsh on her now that they were face to face, but she was also very reserved and nearly apologetic for some of her comments so the interview wasn't confrontational in the least.

Watching this just made me feel even more sorry for the lady.

1. I am sure I am not the first to ask but do you feel sorry for Cindy
because of losing her son or do you see her as a pathetic figure. The tone of your post indicates the latter.
Nowhere do I see you say anything about Hannity being a Bush shill and an ass.

4. I see her as a tragic figure
one that is being used by people, much to her psychological detriment.

And of course Hannity is a Bush shill and an ass. Who needs to be reminded of that? Was it ever in doubt?

3. It's a shame the media has become our adversary.
Cindy's message is rock solid. She's brave to face the shredding machine formerly known as our media. The pathetic turds that pose with their haircuts are just goons for the corporations that own them.

Cindy's spirit is totally counter to what our propaganda machine is trying to force on America. Teams of calculating professionals spent time making decisions on just exactly how to discredit her, long before she ever sat in their studio.

Rosa Parks would have come off looking just the same. It's David and Goliath. And we all know how that turned out. Appearances can be deceiving. She got a few statements wrong. Big deal.

5. It wasn't that she got a few statements wrong.
It was that she retreated from some of the things she said and she looked weak and unsure of herself.

I wouldn't try to compare this woman with Rosa Parks.

6. Does Hanitty ever take a break?
I guess being the biggest asshole on the planet is a 24/7 kind of job.

As for Sheehan, I see her as a sympathetic figure. I think she's not a good public speaker and has said some things that probably shouldn't have been said.

15. I think the OP was saying that he did hold back on his usual attack dog style.
Of course that was probably because he didn't want the bad PR of beating up on the grieving mother of a dead vet.

Activist Cindy Sheehan Heading to Guantanamo Bay

(January 7, 2007)--War protester Cindy Sheehan is going to Guantanamo Bay.

She and eleven other anti-war and human rights activists have arrived in Havana and are planning to travel across Cuba to demonstrate in front of the US military prison.

Sheehan is calling for prison to be closed.

The protest is scheduled for Thursday, five years after the first detainees were taken there.

When asked about possibly facing sanctions for traveling to Cuba, Sheehan told reporters that she's "not afraid of anything."

The leader of the activist group says members believe they're exempt from travel restrictions because they're professional human rights advocates.

The group is also slated to attend an international conference in Guantanamo City the day before the protest.

Be safe Cindy.

12. She didn't stand a chance against Hannity on his turf
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 12:49 AM by Hippo_Tron
If I were her I wouldn't have done the interview. Either that or gotten a consultant to prep her before hand. Not sure she could afford one, but maybe someone would've done it for free.

14. I respect her yet I feel that she is not astute enough to
do interviews with strong adversaries. I have seen her in other interviews and she doesn't do well.

16. That could be fixed if she had a consultant to teach her how to answer the questions
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone would be willing to work with her for free and she probably can't afford someone to do that.

20. It doesn't take that much time to prepare for an interview
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 03:31 AM by Hippo_Tron
Hannity isn't a brilliant journalist by any means, he's a talking-head putz. Any experienced consultant could've told Sheehan that he would ask about Chavez, ask whether she thinks Bush is as evil as Saddam Hussein, ask if she hates the troops and she could've had a scripted response for every one of those questions that would make Hannity's head spin because he isn't expecting it.

Being able to go on television and "wing it" is a gift that only a handful of people actually have. Bill Clinton is a great example of one of those exceptionally gifted ones that can do it. Cindy Sheehan, like the rest of us, can't.

Now that I think about it, there would have to be a progressive media consultant somewhere that would be willing to work with Cindy. The fact is that she has the element of surprise and I'd love to see her go back on Hannity's show actually prepared and destroy him.

13. I'm pretty sure how people see her is a pretty good answer to the classic question
of "which side are you on?" Unlike you, I am not a fan or watcher of Hannity and Fox, so I missed that and wouldn't watch even it was on continuously.

I long ago decided that eating Reich Wing shit was unhealthy. But tastes differ. To each their own, and all that.

But you might ask yourself that question.

17. Hannity is King Baby and everyone knows it. So what if she didn't have an Oscar moment?
Why do we allow mercy for the babied and pampered jerks like Hannity and the Inquisition for the good peeps like Cindy? Her son died in this needless invasion, what sacrifice has Hannity given? Why do I even ask the question?

I haven't seen it yet, but remember, like the Alamo, remember the EDITING.

Cindy the fighter Sheehan, (Hannity, by that description wouldn't know what a fair fight was if he was handed the winning Lotto ticket), has no power on how they may manipulate the editing of the overall interview.

Perhaps they didn't. Fine. However, it is Faux news.

With that said, I still haven't seen any interview.

If someone has a link, please include.

21. I was surfin the channels and saw her.
I decided to watch and listen. She does poorly in interviews. She should have known the key questions he would ask and have expected that he would attack her. She should not do these kinds of interviews if she is unprepared to debate the issues.. She does not present her cause well. After all this time the sympathy for her may have waned somewhat, especially when she side with Left Wingers from other countries. I side with them, as well, but no one is interviewing me and I don't have to be articulate under pressure on TV. She really needs to get her act together. I do respect her and support her causes.I am sure that there are people that are in touch with her that can train her for this task.
