How Much Longer Can Cheney Survive? ---pix--->>>
The rest of the neocons are on the outs. And even they don't believe in the Iraq War any more. Yet someone has convinced George Junior he must stay the course. Guess who?

Everyone agrees it would be insane to bomb Iraq. Yet it seems someone in the admin is set on it so it will happen. Guess who?

And in this thread we learn that Dick forced Negroponte to give up his position because he wouldn't go along with Dick's ideas on domestic spying. Tactics too radical even for Negroponte? Guess who.

Dick has got to go. The Fool-In-Chief is obviously still in his thrall. What power does the sickly Dick wield over the little snip? Is he playing to his Oedipal dysfunctions? How does Dick manage to continue running the show when he's obviously mentally and emotionally incapacitated - paranoid, depressive, grandiose, delusional, just sick sick sick.

He's the Last Neocon Standing and It's Time For Dick To Go.

Besides which, his quadruple heart bypass should have expired years ago. What is even keeping him alive?

Will he ever go away? Dear Dick. Here's your hat, what's your hurry? Don't go away mad, just go away.

Is Bush the last man on earth who doesn't realize that Dick Cheney is Nosferatu?

How much longer can Dick survive? Will the rest of us manage to survive him?

15. i don't think the definition of a neocon is "one who signed pnac"
taken from wikipedia, i think this is the most accepted definition of the term neocon, though i know it has more recently been used to define any conservative or republican:

Neoconservatism is a political movement, mainly in the United States, which is generally held to have emerged in the 1960s, coalesced in the 1970s, and has had a significant presence in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.

The prefix neo- refers to two ways in which neoconservatism was new. First, many of the movement's founders, originally liberals, Democrats or from socialist backgrounds, were new to conservatism. Also, neoconservatism was a comparatively recent strain of conservative socio-political thought. It derived from a variety of intellectual roots in the decades following World War II, including literary criticism and the social sciences.

Irving Kristol,<1> Norman Podhoretz<2> and others described themselves as neoconservatives during the Cold War. In general, however, the movement's critics use the term more often than supporters.<3> In fact, some people described as "neocons" today say that neoconservatism no longer exists as an identifiable movement.

17. I get you, but I still lump Dick in with them, because of his vehemence on Iraq
He signed on to the Iraq thing pre-admin, when he signed up with PNAC. I get your point that he was motivated by corporate greed, not idealogical reshaping of the ME, but in my view all PNACers are neocons. It's semantics I guess.

7. Cheney may be history
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 09:21 PM by calzone
There's one blogger that has an interesting theory. He thinks Bush's move to demote Negraponte was a ruse. He thinks Bush will have Cheney resign, since there's pending investigations and because Cheney's health is too risky with Pelosi so close. Then Bush will fill Cheney's spot with Rice, making her the 1st black, female V.P.. This will open up Rice's powerful spot to Negraponte.
Time will tell.

Which opens up one seat from Connecticut. And who might be first in line for that seat?

Yes, you guessed it:

32. Maybe Lieberman and McCain have been
campaigning for the VP position. Think of it, Bush offers the position to the one that can sell the Iran War most successfully. That's why they keep popping up everywhere, regurgitating whatever those Enterprise Institute neocons Kagen and Keane say.

30. Condi destroyed NSA then was sent to destroy State
Somebody finally realized we have to "do diplomacy." Condi's completely useless there so they had to bring Negroponte over. If the impeachment heats up we'll probably see Negroponte take over for Cheney.

10. Let's see, he will be driven out of office for nuking Iran.
Then Condi will move to VP and be confirmed by the Senate, and Negroponte will move up to Sec of State. (Gates will remain at Defense). (The rethugs think Sec of Defense is the right training for VP.

Then dumbya will be impeached, and Condi will become as malleable a president as W is. Robert Gates will move to VP and be confirmed and will be the shadow President just like Cheney is now.

Then it will be time for the 2008 elections and Rice/Gates will run as incumbents, and win thanks to Diebold and all those prisons that have been built for the vocal dissidents, like us here at DU.

So we can all enjoy each other's company while they re-educate us. Cheney and Rumsfield will live happily ever-after side by each at their respective fortified compounds in Maryland.

25. If Cheney goes first, Bush appoints a new VP. An unimpeachable
one.

What we have to hope for is that Bush and Cheney chose to fight impeachment,
and they're impeached together, and too doctrinaire and crazy to appoint
a successor. Then Pelosi gets it.

37. I really think Cheney knows info that would implicate W re 9/11
I really think that is the source of Cheney's power over Bush. There were supposed to have been several fallings out between W and Dick, yet Dick remains in control.

Remember, these two insisted on being interviewed together by the 9/11 Commission. The only conceivable explanation for that is that each feared that the other would disclose some information to the Commission. By being interviewed together, they could monitor each other.

Dick's power has something to do with what he knows about 9/11 and could disclose.
