FBI grabs 3 middle eastern men at port of Miami!--run away! run away!
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 03:43 PM by Philosoraptor
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/01/cargo_traffic_a.html

A senior government official tells ABC News the truck driver gave inconsistent statements. Then authorities discovered two men of Middle Eastern descent hiding in the cab of the truck. One man is described as an Iraqi national; another is described as a Lebanese national. The name of one of the men is similar to that of someone on a terrorism watchlist.

The port is still open to cruise traffic. FBI, DHS and Miami police and terrorism task force are assessing the situation. All three men are being questioned.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration, the Port of Miami is the 7th busiest container port in the U.S., handling about five percent of all maritime container traffic in the country.

Overall, Miami's port is the 13th busiest port in the country when all types of cargo are counted.

--------------------------Swarthy Middle Eastern men! run away! A local Miami authority just stated at a press conference the suspects were of middle eastern descent and are definitely suspicious.

I can't know how scared shitless to be without the color coding!

1. Would you rather it wasn't reported?

4. I would
Damn straight I would. Reporting before facts are available or even released is nothing more that purposeful distortion. I'm sick of our media pulling this shit. Besides, when they pull this "be afraid" shit they encourage everyone to BE AFRAID - which means everyone watching their neighbor, reporting fake stories to the police because they can get media attention or because they have a grudge against someone.

8. Yes, and for many reasons
the first being that if this is indeed a terrorist plot, putting out the news about catching these guys just alerted any others in on a plot to abort the mission or go to Plan B.

The way this has been put out to the press, first it's Middle Eastern men, then Cubans, now back to Middle Eastern men. It makes the law enforcement agencies look like they aren't able to tell who they are--which doesn't give one any feeling of security.

The way this has been put out to the press before any case has been collected makes me wonder if perhaps the press coverage is for political purposes.

2. Miami has been convenient for these 'Rove Style' stories that usually end up bullshit.
The CNN story on this seems remarkably un-alarming.

~snip~ No federal charges are pending, according to the FBI. Authorities did not know whether Immigration and Customs Enforcement is considering charges or whether the three are in the United States legally.

3. IMHO
this particular situation, going only what I have been hearing on CNN, may well be a case of the DHS actually doing their job.

Not all threats are Rovian bullshit!
It's sort of like the adage of a stopped clock being right twice a day.

I will reserve judgment on this whole thing until I get more information.

9. Every statement given to a police officer is inconsistent
In thousands of investigations I've never heard otherwise. Of course, this refers to the suspect's statements. Police statements are so consistent sometimes they appear to have a rehearsed quality.

Oh by the way, haven't these multiple agencies heard of bomb sniffing dogs? Drug sniffing dogs? These faux reporters and "consultants" are dumber than hammered dogshit.

12. Faux was breathless all day long
about a total non-event. How pathetic.
I don't see why their journalistic peers
don't ridicule them out of the business.

C'mon Press.. police your profession
and throw the jokers out !
