Can we forward all our junk mail to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave?
Since Bush has signed a presidential signing statement declaring he has the right to open and read all our mail? If a dumptruck pulled up in front of the White House and dumped a truckload of junkmail on the lawn, would that make him happy? Just think of all the coupons he and Laura could clip sitting on their front porch down in Crawford or Paraquay or wherever he decides to hide out after he escapes from the White House? It should keep him busy...

or if you have the spare money for postage and some free time send hime the phrase. "Here's my mail you nosy bastard, enjoy" except send it as individual words on seven sheets of paper in seven seperate envelopes once a week for seven weeks, out of order. Let the NSA chew on that one.

2. Imagine how much electricity we could generate if we had an
incinerator that could burn the nations junkmail cleanly and efficiently. Too bad spam won't light.

The middle eastern man looking man is eating spam, I wonder what he is going to do with the empty can. Better call Faux Snooze.

3. Everything goes their first now anyway.
Tin foil time: it's not just about violating our rights and shitting on the Constitution. The junta is so worried about getting busted that they are making damned sure Law Enforcement has so much fucking busy-work that they can't do any real police work.

And any REAL terrorists are found out via good, solid police work, not large scale military invasions and occupations of other countries.

They want the law enforcement personnel so swamped with pointless data analysis that they can't get to the bottom of the REAL threats to American: the criminals in the junta!

8. I don't believe the USPS will forward 3rd class mail unless it's of "obvious value"
... like a magazine or newsletter.

11. That's why you have to send it in.
Re-mail it. Stamps don't cost all that much, and although you'd need a couple to send in a weeks worth of mail, it's cheaper than the gas to get to another protest. Plus, this one might actually get national news recognition.

12. Excellent!
A very cheap protest...but don't put a return address on it. That should keep Homeland Security busy..

15. And a protest we in the hinterlands can join in!
:woohoo:

I feel so left out when y'all are taking to the streets en masse. I take to the streets and am just a woman walking alone in bad weather. Not as much impact as when my Wayward Daughter does it in a city:

13. "Stamps don't cost all that much"?
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 01:59 PM by TahitiNut
Well, $0.39 means more to me than some people, I guess ... particularly in the volumes that are implied. I'd rather use it for DU - or for the ACLU.

After all, consider the impact of a $0.39/gal gasoline price increase. For folks on a fixed income, that's not trivial.

16. Especially fine idea for people in small rural communities.
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 02:41 PM by havocmom
We can't make impact with big marches where we live.

AND:
There is movement toward closing some rural post offices. The USPS decides they aren't busy enough since the only thing actually counted for them is what they sell at the counter. They don't get points for incoming mail at all. If we turned our junk mail into outgoing first class mail and buy the stamps from our local post masters, we up the numbers they get to report!

For many in small villages, going to the post office is a big outing. We don't have service to our homes. If they close the post office, how far will we have to go to get our mail? In my case, about 80 miles. We do most business, and shopping via mail, so there is LOTS of 'incoming' and our post master is a busy chap, but the guys at the top only count what he actually sells at the counter as work done. It is a travesty.

edit: typo
